Clinton releases 2015 tax returns, putting pressure on Trump

Kaine and his wife Anne Holton, who resigned in July as Virginia’s education secretary, paid an effective federal tax rate of 20.3 percent in 2015 on $313,441 in adjusted gross income, according to a copy of their return.

Hillary and Bill Clinton paid $3.2 million in federal income tax previous year, a rate of 34.2 percent.

“Hillary Clinton has turned over the only records nobody wants to see from her – the American public wants to see the 33,000 emails she deleted to obstruct an FBI investigation”, Jason Miller, senior communication advisor of the Trump Campaign, said. They paid $3.6 million in federal income tax, according to the document, which was posted on the Democratic presidential candidate’s web page.

Mr. Trump has said he’s being audited by the IRS, and said it doesn’t make sense to release his returns in the middle of that audit.

Despite the pressure Trump’s campaign has not indicated when or if, the billionaire will release his tax returns.

Following on the announcement that the College Republicans at Harvard University will not endorse Donald Trump for president, the College Republicans at Pennsylvania State University have announced that they too will not endorse Trump.

He later said via Twitter that his taxes were under a routine audit and he would release them once the review was completed. Every major-party nominee since the late 1970s has released tax returns before Election Day. In 2014, she earned almost $10.5 million in speaking fees, exceeding the $9.7 million her husband Bill was paid for doing the same.

Given their long tenure in public service, the Clintons release their tax returns publically about as often as most people file their actual taxes.

Her bid for the White House forced Clinton to give up her primary source of income: paid speeches. Meanwhile, Bill Clinton delivered 43 speeches that same year, with speaking fees ranging from 100,000 dollars to 750,000 dollars.

She put out her most recent eight years of tax filings last summer, along with her health records.

After resigning from the State Department in February 2013, Clinton went on the speaking circuit, charging $225,000 or more per appearance.

The release of tax information is generally expected of presidential candidates.

Trump’s critics, including 2012 Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and other fellow Republicans, have said his refusal raises questions about his net worth, his charitable contributions, his business dealings and other ties, including with Russian Federation. The Clinton campaign also says that the couple gave 9.8 percent of their adjusted gross income to charity, though nearly all of it went to their charity, the Clinton Family Foundation.
