Clinton resumes campaigning after pneumonia as race tightens

The Clinton campaign released a two-page letter from Clinton’s doctor Wednesday detailing her recent illness. It also interrupted a series of speeches in which she had planned to refocus her campaign on what she would do for the country after a period when she attacked Trump as a unsafe, unprepared candidate.

The poll was conducted from September 8-13, including a stretch of time when Clinton faced criticism for failing to disclose a pneumonia diagnosis that led to her feeling unwell and leaving a 9/11 memorial service early.

The poll carried out by the New York Times and CBS News revealed the former Secretary of State has a 2 point advantage (46 to 44 percent) over the New York businessman in terms of voting intention, a number within the research’s error margin.

During her speech Thursday, Clinton said she spent her time off talking to friends and thinking.

Clinton’s return to the campaign trail comes as polls show the race tightening both nationally and in key battleground states.

It’s her first public appearance since Sunday, when she abruptly left a 9/11 memorial service in NY after feeling becoming dizzy and dehydrated.

Bardack did the right tests for her pneumonia and “she’s being treated appropriately”, said Dr. Mark Creager, director of the Dartmouth-Hitchkock heart and vascular centre in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and a past president of the American Heart Association.

“This was an ailment that many people just power through and that’s what I thought I would do as well”, Clinton told reporters Thursday.

Trump’s letter said the Republican is 6-foot-3 and 236 pounds — giving him a body mass index falling into the “overweight” range.

Clinton, 68, has blood pressure of 100 over 70.

The letter from Clinton’s doctor made no mention of her weight, a key part of any medical exam, nor did a similar letter released a year ago.

The Democratic presidential nominee spoke briefly with reporters on her campaign plane as she headed to an event in Greensboro, North Carolina.

“I have a great deal of respect for Colin Powell and I have a lot of sympathy for anyone whose emails become public”, said Clinton.

In an attempt reassure voters and to downplay questions over her health and transparency, Clinton’s campaign insisted recently that the presidential nominee has “no other undisclosed condition”.

Calls for more detailed medical records from the two candidates resulted in Mr Trump sharing a letter summarising the results of his latest physical examination conducted last week at a taping of daytime television programme The Dr Oz Show on Wednesday.
