Clinton’s Campaign Manager Defends Foreign Foundation Money
Mook and Stephanopoulos were talking for a while about Donald Trump before the topic of the Clinton Foundation was brought up. Mook suggested that the foundation’s ongoing work would require a slower effort to cut foreign ties, although he tried to change the subject after being pressed on the point by Bash. They’ve done some really great things.

Critics say the foundation’s receipt of contributions from foreign people and entities seeking business deals with the USA while Clinton served as secretary of state created the appearance of “pay to play”.
Though the foundation made it clear it would honor the promise, the self-imposed donations ban isn’t being treated as across-the-board policy by other top-tier Clinton-owned endeavors, according to the Boston Globe.
Mook pointed out that when President George W. Bush came into office, “you never heard people asking questions about his family’s foundation, which was a very similar situation, and members of his family remained on the board of his foundation while he remained president”. Now with Hillary Clinton being elected president, which we hope it will be, they clearly need to change the way they do business. He sought to explain why the organization believes this move is necessary if Clinton were elected president – but not before then, or during her time as secretary of state. The foundation’s work on health problems overseas and support from foreign entities has always been criticized by Republicans and Democrats alike, who felt there was at least an appearance of impropriety for an official who served as the nation’s chief diplomat. Foundation employees have been informed that the former President will step down from the board, and the Foundation would stop accepting money from foreign and corporate sources.

CHAI also saw a massive uptick in foreign donations when Clinton served as secretary of state. “If it’s not appropriate for you to do while you’re president why was it appropriate to do while she was secretary of state?” asked Peter Schweizer, author of the book Clinton Cash, who first alleged the quid pro quo between the Indian contribution and the nuclear deal.
