Clinton’s convention to go straight at trust issue
Clinton’s campaign didn’t hesitate to make the connection, with campaign manager Robby Mook saying cyber experts believed “Russian state actors were feeding the email to hackers for the goal of helping Donald Trump”.

Demonstrators make their way around downtown, Monday, July 25, 2016, in Philadelphia, during the first day of the Democratic National Convention. And she also takes responsibility for the “legitimate questions” she has raised about herself – but apparently not for the illegitimate ones? The disclosures prompted the resignation of DNC chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz on the eve of the party’s convention in Philadelphia, where Clinton is expected to officially accept the nomination for president.
We don’t need to run through the familiar litany in detail, but suffice it to say that if a Republican had been secretary of state when a USA ambassador was killed by terrorists in a country that the secretary’s own policies had destabilized, that person would unlikely be the party’s nominee.
Karen Bernal, co-chair of California’s Sanders delegation, said she understood the call for unity, “but that is not my job”. By that, Clinton meant to say that she often gets treated unfairly.
Clinton and President Barack Obama both quickly praised the departed party chief, hoping to move past the ugliness and onto plans for an optimistic celebration featuring high-powered elected officials and celebrities who will try to re-introduce Clinton to a general election audience.
In one leaked email, a DNC official wondered whether Sanders’ religious beliefs could be used against him, questioning whether the candidate may be an atheist.
Trump appeared to relish in the Democratic chaos Sunday, writing, “The Dems Convention is cracking up”.
At the Republican convention, Trump cast himself as the law-and-order candidate in a nation suffering under crime and hobbled by immigration, sticking to the gloom-and-doom theme. She was asked what name she would call Trump in response to his repeatedly referring to her as “Crooked Hillary”. Kaine’s selection doesn’t convince her to vote for Clinton because he’s too liberal for her taste, but she says that might not be the case for her peers.
Trump told the New York Times last week that he would decide whether to protect America’s North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies against Russian aggression based on whether those countries “have fulfilled their obligations to us”, hinting that he might pivot away from the decades-old agreement.
CNN said its new findings were the best showing for Trump against Clinton since September 2015.
Sanders was among those due to speak on the first evening of the convention.
“She grew up as an ordinary kid in the suburbs of Chicago who went to public school”, said Melanne Verveer, the former first lady’s chief of staff, who remains a close confidante.
Sanders delegates are mulling ways to show support for Sanders during the convention.
Clinton told “60 Minutes” in an interview alongside her running mate, Virginia Sen. “As much as any human being would be ready, I’d be ready”, he said.
“We’re not delusional”, Solomon said. He said there was enthusiasm among Sanders’s delegates for Sens. Sanders’ supporters say they are concerned that Kaine is not progressive enough.
Sanders endorsed Clinton two weeks ago after pressing for the party platform to include a $15-an-hour minimum wage, debt-free college and an expansion of access to health care.
He said the nominating process was decided by the voters.
There are now 4,763 total delegates, and 712 of them are superdelegates. It was a very dark, divisive campaign.
