Bill Clinton said at the staff meeting that he and daughter Chelsea were not responding to external pressure to create new donor rules and were instead moving proactively to avoid the appearance of misconduct if there is another Clinton presidency.

On Tuesday, an editorial in the Boston Globe called for shutting down the foundation, because it represented a “political – and actual – distraction” to Clinton’s campaign.

The foundation, established in 1997, has been the focus of charitable work by the Clinton family since Bill Clinton left the White House in 2001. It has also blurred the lines between donations and off-the-record political favors, while providing the Clintons with plausible deniability of auctioning off access to the most politically powerful couple in modern USA history.

While Clinton was secretary of state, the foundation put in place certain restrictions on accepting donations from corporations. After all, there’s a good chance Hillary Clinton will be president in just a few short months.

The Clinton Foundation has long-been a target of criticism, especially during the years Hillary Clinton served as secretary of state.

The New York Times revealed that Giustra benefitted when Clinton’s State Department signed off on a deal that helped Giustra’s uranium mining interests.

This charity works in 32 different countries and saw a huge increase in foreign donations while she helmed the State Department. He can say “there are some things that Donald Trump talks about that do have a germ of reason or a germ of truth”, or mention on a radio show the FBI’s findings have damaged Clinton, or he can tell Buzzfeed the Democrats are $10 million short for the DNC. He was pushing for more transparency than what was ultimately agreed upon between the foundation and the Obama transition team.
