In an apparent move to woo disgruntled liberal supporters of Bernie Sanders, her former rival in the nomination race, Clinton also vowed to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United ruling that opened the door to unlimited donation in U.S. politics and to strengthen regulations of Wall Street banks and big corporations. She nodded to her interest in the details of policy, saying those details matter to the people they affect.

Asserting Clinton’s national security capabilities were a group of military leaders, including retired Gen. John Allen, the former deputy commander of the wars in the Middle East, who called Clinton the kind of “commander in chief America needs”.

Clinton appeared nearly overcome with emotion as she enter the arena to loud cheers and embraced her daughter, Chelsea, who introduced her as the next President of the United States. Instead, it’s what played out at the Democratic National Convention early in the week as party members from across the country gathered in Philadelphia. “I just don’t want you to be shot by someone who shouldn’t have a gun in the first place”, she said.

“He wants us to fear the future and fear each other. We’re nearly half the people in the room”, a supporter said.

Following reports Russian Federation hacked Democratic Party emails, Trump said Wednesday he’d like to see Moscow find the thousands of emails Clinton deleted from the account she used as secretary of state.

In addition to stressing the need for “steady leadership”, Clinton shared more about her personal history. “Or you can just cancel out your weird cousin’s vote if you like”, she said.

Calling former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg “little”, Trump said Bloomberg, a fellow billionaire, didn’t “have the guts” for a presidential run and “knows nothing about me”.

In contrast, the Trump campaign struggled mightily to convince many leading Republicans to even make an appearance.

Khizr Khan, the Muslim father of a USA soldier killed in post-9/11 military action, took aim at a Trump proposal to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the United States. Clinton, who aides say spent weeks working on her address, saw the speech as a major opportunity to answer what her husband called the “cartoon alternative”. “Jobs in manufacturing, clean energy, technology and innovation, small business, and infrastructure”, she added. “I will gladly lend you my copy”. The choice is clear, Clinton said.

Basil Smikle, executive director of the state Democratic Committee, said the party will still need to work to assuage Sanders’ backers concerns. “They were always a reminder that I was always in her thoughts and in her heart”, Chelsea Clinton said. “Millions!” Trump said Friday during a campaign appearance in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

“I know that at a time when so much seems to be pulling us apart, it can be hard to imagine how we’ll ever pull together again”, Clinton said to a rapt Democratic convention audience.
