Clinton, Sanders aim at June showdown in California

Sanders has crafted an identity that’s “fresher than Clinton’s and better-suited to the moment”. “It will not keep us safe”, she said. “That is the only way we can reverse President Obama’s failed domestic and foreign policy agenda and turn our country around”.

Sanders also admitted that he and Clinton sometimes have private conversations, and that he’s not to blame for Clinton’s “historic” “unfavorability numbers” in some polls.

She calls California an “exclamation point” on the primary season, but adds that it’s “important to get ready and organized for the fall election”.

On the Democratic side, front-runner Clinton won the biggest state of Arizona with a sizeable minority population. That’s a reversal from over a month ago, when the former first lady trailed by 3 points.

Hillary Clinton is warning that “hot rhetoric and demagoguery” can be offensive and risky. “Ted Cruz would not only lose the White House but would cost Senate seats”, said spokesman Chris Schrimpf. Bernie Sanders, in the general election. She has a 300-delegate lead over Sanders after Tuesday night’s contests. Barack Obama held over Clinton during the 2008 primaries. It’s math that’s forced Sanders to defend his path to victory amid whispers he should drop out. “Incompetent Hillary doesn’t know what she’s talking about”, the billionaire businessman said in an interview with Fox News.

“It inspired me, it inspired Heidi”, Cruz said, referencing his wife, who inspired other headlines on Thursday.

He threatened: “Lyin’ Ted Cruz just used a picture of Melania from a G.Q. shoot in his ad. Be careful, Lyin’ Ted, or I will spill the beans on your wife!”

Before speaking to employees at a Madison-area manufacturing plant, Cruz told reporters that Trump “doesn’t like strong women”.

The Democratic elite’s dismissal of Sanders reflects a contempt for democratic ideals, said the brilliant Jedediah Purdy in Dissent.

As Tad Devine, a Sanders strategist, said: “People will look at different measures: How many votes did you get?”

The endorsement comes ahead of Saturday’s contests in Washington state, Hawaii and Alaska, where the union has a presence. Republican Ted Cruz claimed the GOP caucuses in Utah.

“Cruz was – and is – hated by the Republican Party establishment, who view him as a grandstander with little interest in any of the niceties of politics”. On Wednesday, he gained the support of the conservative Club For Growth PAC.

Donald Trump was quick to respond to Clinton’s attacks.

The new ad will be up on broadcast, cable and digital platforms beginning this weekend.

The third contender still fighting for the nomination, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, was shut out for the night. It takes 2,383 delegates to win the Democratic nomination. And that is only serving to help front-runner Donald Trump, Cruz says.

During his remarks, Cruz highlighted the importance of Wisconsin’s presidential primary vote, which will take place on April 5. They focus on his experience balancing the federal budget, his faith and a drunk-driving accident that killed his parents.

To secure the nomination before the July 18-21 Republican convention, a candidate will need 1,237 delegates.

“Nobody’s going to go to the convention with enough delegates”, Kasich said during a town hall Wednesday in Wauwatosa, Wis. But he’s so far behind in the hunt for delegates that he can’t win the nomination in the primary season.

In London, a senior British counter-terrorism police officer condemned Trump’s assertion on the “Good Morning Britain” TV show that that British Muslims are not reporting extremists in their communities to police. Cruz would shrink the federal government, McIntosh says, while Trump “would seek to remake government in his desired image”.
