The race continues Sunday night in Flint, Mich., with a debate dominated by by the water crisis in the city.

After being asked “To whom and for whom do you pray?”, Clinton responded: “I am a praying person”. But they disagreed on whether gun manufacturers should be held accountable for mass shootings committed by people who use those firearms. Clinton again tried to interrupt Sanders while the candidates were discussing the nation’s automobile industry, to which he replied: “Can I finish?”

Mrs Clinton has won at least 1,130 delegates to Mr Sanders’ 499, which includes “super-delegates” – members of Congress, governors and party officials who can support the candidate of their choice.

Bernie Sanders snaps at Hillary Clinton after she interrupts him during debate.

Sanders on an experience that helped him understand other cultures: “Most candidates don’t put this on their resume, but I was arrested for trying to desegregate the Chicago school system”.

More than once, Sanders chafed at Clinton’s interruptions, saying, “Excuse me, I’m talking” or “Let me finish, please”.

“The Democratic candidates faced off just two days before Michigan’s primary, in a city that already was in tough shape long before residents learned their drinking water was tainted with lead”.

John Podesta, Hillary Clinton’s campaign chairman, sidestepped questions about the inconsistency of Spokesman Brian Fallon’s comments prior to CNN’s debate and Clinton’s statement during the debate calling for Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to resign.

More than 8000 children in Flint economically devastated by the closure of General Motors factories were exposed to ad for more than a year before the tap water contamination was uncovered by citizen activists.

“We are, if elected president, going to invest a lot of money into mental health”, Sanders said.

Seasoned debate coach Todd Graham of the Southern Illinois University, in an opinion editorial on CNN, said Sunday’s debate was a great one. “It is raining lead in Flint and the state is derelict in not coming forward with the money that’s required”. “That is clearly not what this country should be about”.

“His dereliction of duty was irresponsible”.

– Cause of Michigan’s woes?

Both issues resonate deeply in MI, which hosts its presidential primary on Tuesday.

But Sen. Sanders’ projected lead over Trump makes Clinton’s contest look like a tight race.

Clinton accused Sanders of turning his back on the auto industry and Sanders countering that Clinton’s friends on Wall Street had “destroyed this economy”.

That prompted a feisty exchange. But that effort failed, and the auto-industry rescue, became part of TARP.

“I voted to save the auto industry”.

“I agree, the Governor should resign, or be recalled”, Clinton told the audience, drawing equally enthusiastic applause.

The economy was also a big topic, including trade, corporate bailouts and ties to Wall Street.

In her most pointed thrust, Clinton said Sanders had voted against a 2009 bailout of auto makers, adding, “I went with them”.
