Clinton says running mate Kaine gets things done
“Bienvenidos a todos”, the Virginia senator said, a phrase that translates to “welcome to everyone”.

Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine will debut as a presidential ticket in the crucial battleground state of Florida as they head toward next week’s Democratic Party convention. And she wasted little time before declaring, “Senator Tim Kaine is everything Donald Trump and Mike Pence are not!”
Dominion donated more than $250,000 to Kaine’s statewide political campaigns and inaugurations between 2001 and 2008, according to the Virginia Public Access Project, a nonpartisan open government group.
He is a practicing Catholic who took a year off from Harvard Law School to volunteer with Jesuits in Honduras.
“I like to fight for right”, he said. “That’s been my goal in every position I’ve ever held”. Kaine also gave the audience a lengthy autobiography, acknowledging “for many of you, it may be the first time you’ve heard my name”.
“Do you want a “you’re fired president or a “you’re hired” president?” “Donald Trump trash-talks folks with disabilities, trash-talks Mexican-Americans and Latinos”. Clinton, in beginning her remarks, looked at the crowd and said it was “like a breath of fresh air” after watching the GOP convention in Cleveland. Kaine brings a warmth to this election that has gone missing under Donald Trump’s constant storm clouds of doom.
On Sunday at 1 p.m., one day before the Democratic National Convention begins in Philadelphia, thousands of people will take part in the March for a Clean Energy Revolution calling for a ban on fracking. But many others also said they wanted to get direction from Sanders, who was scheduled to meet privately with his delegates Monday. It’s also partly why Clinton picked Kaine as her running mate.
During the call, Clinton joked to her future running mate that Podesta was “outside hiding” and ready to brief him.
The presumptive Democratic nominee spent the following months reviewing her options, and appeared on the campaign trail with numerous candidates – including Sen.
She heralded her pick as a man of faith, willing to work across the aisle and committed to furthering the progressive cause. She said that while Kaine may seem like a “conventional choice”, he will balance the ticket well for the general election.
Clinton was weighing two finalists: Kaine and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, a longtime friend of the candidate and former President Bill Clinton.
He also emphasized his determination to pass stricter gun control laws, recounting his time as governor during the 2007 Virginia Tech shooting.
But they say what’s most appealing is that he’s not wedded to a political life.
Trump offered his thoughts on Kaine via Twitter, saying: “Tim Kaine is, and always has been, owned by the banks”. Bernie Sanders’ backers were not happy with the choice. “Bernie fought for nothing!”
Replied Kaine: “Just got off the phone with Hillary”. ISIS and our other enemies are drooling. The gifts were legal under the state’s permissive ethics rules, but his willingness to accept them could become an issue during the presidential campaign.

After weeks of speculation, Hillary Clinton’s campaign has announced she will tap Tim Kaine as her running mate.
Aides say as Clinton deliberated over a shortlist of potentials vice presidential nominees, she continued to return to her “unshakable confidence” in his readiness for the job, as well as her personal comfort with him.

Ultimately, it was Kaine that best fit that description. “There’s no doubt in my mind, because I’m here with him, that Tim is qualified to be vice president”. He’s a free trade supporter who backs TPP when Donald Trump has called for protectionism.
