Clinton says she relied on State staff for classification decisions

“Was that true?” Gowdy asked.

Trevor Noah is on to something, though we think Comey could use more spray tan.

“Is it your statement then before this committee that Secretary Clinton should have known not to send classified material and yet she did?”

She also told NBC News, “I never received nor sent any material that was marked classified”.

While being questioned by Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD) over the potentially chilling effects of the hearing, Director Comey said, “My honest answer is, I don’t think so”.

And he repeated his earlier contention that “no reasonable prosecutor” would have pursued criminal charges, saying at one point, “We went at this very hard to see if we could make a case”.

Pressed by Chaffetz Thursday on whether Clinton lied, Comey said during a hearing that he had not reviewed Clinton’s testimony because it had not been referred to him by Congress. Chaffetz assured Comey he would soon get a referral.

“There is no effect, director – there is no outcome”, Chaffetz said, demanding to know why Clinton and her aides do not appear to be paying a price over the long-running controversy.

Some of them were “marked”, as Comey noted, adding: “But even if information is not marked “classified” in an email, participants who know or should know that the subject matter is classified are still obligated to protect it”. Clinton has said she used one device and returned all work-related emails.

Comey said the FBI investigation did not find evidence of actions that would warrant criminal charges.

Despite tense moments, Comey, a Republican former prosecutor, maintained his cool throughout the marathon grilling that lasted four hours and 40 minutes. To the contrary, he made a good case for why she’s not qualified to be president.

For more coverage on the testimony, the New York Times and the Washington Post has you covered.

Meanwhile, Democratic U.S. Senate candidate, Russ Feingold, broke his silence about Clinton – who he’s endorsed for president.

Comey testifies before a House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing on Capitol Hill on Thursday.

Republicans also focused questioning on Clinton’s past statements, in which she denied sending confidential information over the server and claimed that she had turned in all work-related emails to the State Department.

Mr Kirby set no deadline for the investigation’s completion. Ms. Clinton has proven time and again that she has zero character. He said her server was so poorly secured the Federal Bureau of Investigation could not rule out the possibility its contents had not been hacked by the country’s enemies.

House Speaker Paul Ryan, for instance, asked the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to block access to classified briefings for Clinton for the rest of the campaign.

While Republicans try to keep the controversy alive our favorite comics have found humor in the situation.
