From her call for a major air and ground war against ISIS to her attack on single-payer, observers note that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is rapidly shedding her “progressive” façade as she grows increasingly confident she has the Democratic nomination locked down (an assumption which, evidence shows, is debatable).
Donald Trump believes Hillary Clinton’s refusal to use the phrase “radical Islam” is evidence she’s playing nice with President Obama to escape punishment for her growing email scandal. But it’s also very different from sparring with other candidates on the matter; in that light she hasn’t fared so well.
“Too often the dots never get connected”.
“I want to do this right and get results”, Clinton said during a riff about the terrorist attacks that rocked Paris last week. She says would “break up the big banks” if necessary and hold top financial executives accountable. “The entire world must be part of this fight, but we must lead it”.
“After making clear that the heart of the crisis is the conflict between Sunni and Shia adherents of Islam and the loss of territory in which Sunni can feel they have a voice, Clinton states that…” we need to lay the foundation for a second Sunni awakening.
Republicans countered that Clinton’s proposal “doubles down” on Obama’s policies. Jim Talent, a Republican from Missouri who has advised GOP presidential candidates on foreign policy.
“We are in a contest of ideas against an ideology of hate, and we have to win”, she said.
In 2008, Clinton won Tennessee but lost in Democratic enclaves, Nashville and Memphis.
“The ground campaign in Iraq will only succeed if more Iraqi Sunnis join the fight”, Clinton said. Claiming that the government of President Bashar Assad “slaughtered civilians”, Clinton urged the establishment of a no-fly zone in northern Syria, so that the US-backed rebels could create a “safe zone” for civilians.
She acknowledged rising healthcare costs and said she would push for a tax credit to help those with excessive medical expenses.
“European nations don’t always alert each other when they turn away a suspected jihadist or when a passport is stolen”, she said.
The Vermont senator, who was escorted from campus behind a police vehicle in a tiny, red Ford Focus with Vermont tags, said he sought to counter accusations that he’s a radical, telling the undergraduates his vision of a political revolution follows a trail of achievements left by President Franklin Roosevelt and Martin Luther King Jr.
“I was actually the only one on that debate stage who will commit to raising your wages and not your taxes”, she said. Not greater access to health insurance, but actual health care.
Clinton also stressed the need for more effective and renewed coalition air strikes and an immediate intelligence surge in the region.
Clinton jabbed Thursday at “the obsession in a few quarters with a clash of civilization”, a term that Rubio used in a video released after last Friday’s attacks in Paris, and chastised Republicans including him for focusing on semantics.

“Simple math dictates he’ll need to tax workers even more to pay for the rest of his at least $18 trillion to $20 trillion agenda”, the Clinton spokesman said. Twitter accounts affiliated with Clinton’s campaign have eschewed subtlety to attack Sanders and O’Malley on this point. Sanders did introduce a bill in 2013 that would provide universal health care, and that bill did contain a 2.2 percent increase in income taxes for families that earn $250,000 or less in taxable income annually and individuals who earn less than $200,000 in taxable income annually.
