Clinton says Trump wants United States to ‘fear the future’
Doug Elmets is a Republican who Democrats can cheer for.

But it wasn’t only Clinton who broke a glass ceiling on Tuesday when she became the first female nominee of a major party. In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, Webb said Trump’s “bias” against Hispanics and Muslims, among other groups, spurred him to action.
“I get it that some people just don’t know what to make of me”, she said. I worked for Ronald Reagan. If he can carry them, hold the reliably red states and add Florida (no easy task), Trump wins.
The Republican Party of North Carolina offered an “unqualified” apology Thursday to Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine over a tweet that questioned his patriotism.
John Stubbs and Ricardo Reyes, two former officials in President George W. Bush’s administration, attended the convention to generate interest in their pro-Clinton grassroots organization called R4C16.org. For likeminded Republicans, they said sitting out the election is not enough.
Clinton hasn’t acknowledged any of the jeers or yelling. “Trump! Trump!” to die down. But Clinton’s convention was heavy on policy and calls to public service.
“It is with humility, determination and boundless confidence in America’s promise that I accept your nomination for President of the United States”, Clinton said to thunderous applause at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Gabriel McArthur, a Sanders delegate from suburban Denver, said anything short of an “hours-long heart-to-heart” with the candidate will likely leave him cold Thursday night.
Trump asserts he might compete in such traditionally Democratic states as New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and California.
By the way, Bloomberg is listed as 5-foot-8 inches. She disputed Trump’s assertion that she wants to repeal the Second Amendment, saying “I’m not here to take away your guns”.
In her acceptance speech, she appealed to the working-class voters from the industrialized states who form the core of Trump’s support.
She’s says violent attacks in Iraq, France, Belgium and Florida have caused much unease and anxiety – and people are “looking for reassurance – looking for steady leadership”.
Summoning his most famous line from that campaign, Obama said: “If you’re serious about our democracy, you can’t afford to stay home just because she might not align with you on every issue”.
Thursday night is the biggest night to date in Hillary Clinton’s political career.
She also stressed the importance of her Methodist faith, as well as her early work going door-to-door on behalf of children with disabilities in MA.
Lacking Obama’s sweeping rhetoric or the “feel-your-pain” sensitivity of her husband, Clinton leaned into her wonky image, saying: “I sweat the details of policy”. She says that includes inner cities and small towns, from “Indian Country to Coal Country” and “from the industrial Midwest to the Mississippi Delta to the Rio Grande Valley”.
“Most of them are going to come around”. Bernie Sanders, who urged his supporters to support Clinton despite their differences. They’re builders of a different sort, and Clinton stressed how her nomination “clears the way for everyone” because she will work along with America rather than stand above them.
“Donald Trump is the outsider”.
At that point, Clinton zeroed in on her Republican opponent. “States like CT have come into play”, top Trump strategist Paul Manafort insists.
“I married my best friend”, he said.
“We heard Donald Trump’s answer last week at his convention”.
Trump said in a press conference this week: “Russia, if you’re listening, I hope you’re able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing”.
Another thing that struck me about the Michelle Obama speech was her willingness to remind everyone about her race as a black person despite her current status.
Trump is criticizing Democrats for not talking about terrorism or laying out a plan to aid the economy.
The DNC has apologized and the party’s leader, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, is resigning her post.
Clinton was introduced by her daughter, Chelsea, who spoke warmly of her mother as a woman “driven by compassion, by faith, by kindness, a fierce sense of justice, and a heart full of love”.
Clinton has picked up some Republican endorsements in recent weeks, including Brent Scowcroft, a national security adviser to President George H.W. Bush, and Hank Paulson, a Treasury secretary under President George W. Bush. And the IN governor tells a town hall rally, “I don’t apologize for it”. The move prompted deafening cheers on the convention floor – as well as a boos from Sanders supporters, who, on occasion, could be seen angrily arguing with Clinton backers.

But Cummings says he’s not upset about it because he’s a veteran of civil rights protests and understands the passion that drove the mostly young delegates to shout over his speech Monday. “This year, I will vote for a Democrat for the first time”. “We don’t look to be ruled”, Obama said.
