Mrs Clinton said at a fund- raiser that Mr Trump had “lifted up” people that were “racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic – you name it”.
But Sunday’s drama was just merely a capstone on Clinton’s rough 48 hours.
The Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project released on Saturday shows Trump has caught up to Clinton’s level of support in several states, including Florida and Ohio.
“It’s Exhibit A of her political incompetence”, a prominent Democratic operative who strongly supports Clinton told The Post. Among registered voters, her lead was slightly greater, 45 per cent to Trump’s 35 per cent.
Whether Clinton’s rocky weekend will turn out to be just another unexpected twist in an election season that has had everything, or exert a lasting political impact will only become clear in the coming days. Neither of them have scheduled campaign events for the day.
US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton arrives for a memorial service at the National 9/11 Memorial. “In fact. this last week I took a physical and. when the numbers come in I’ll be releasing very, very specific numbers”.
Jim Manley, a Democratic strategist, said that it was not unreasonable for Clinton to highlight bigotry among some Trump supporters, though he said she was also right to walk back her remarks.
The footage was more than a blow to her dignity.
The Clinton campaign was clearly aware of the potential impact of the video.
She had to be helped into a van before going to rest at her daughter Chelsea’s home.
Clinton’s growing unpopularity follows renewed focus on her use of a private email server while she served as secretary of state, as well as alleged conflicts of interest over her connections to the Clinton Foundation fundraising. Trump, normally voluble on Twitter, stayed silent on the issue on Sunday. The Republican nominee had pledged not to campaign on the anniversary of the terror attacks but his uncharacteristic silence kept the focus on Clinton all day. “They are Americans and they deserve your respect”, he said, drawing cheers from the crowd. Staff and campaign surrogates were instructed not to post anything negative on social media. Trump Republicans have long suggested Hillary Clinton, who is 68, is in questionable or indifferent health, and wingnuts among them have carried the conjecture into conspiratorial territory, attributing all kinds of ailments and diseases to her.
Mrs. Clinton can ill afford to lose working-class voters in critical swing states.
But Sanders said such people are probably not a majority of Trump’s supporters. Clinton has been diagnosed with pneumonia, put on antibiotics and advised to rest.
She joked about the criticism on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last month. Not all Trump backers are racist, he said.
Asked if the health of the candidates was an issue, Trump said: “I think it’s an issue”.
Hillary Clinton is beating Donald Trump 46% to 41% among likely U.S. voters in a new poll.

“At a multimillion-dollar Wall Street fund-raiser with Hollywood celebrities, Hillary Clinton could not have demonstrated more contempt and arrogance towards the majority of working Americans who want change”, said Trump’s NY pollster, longtime GOP strategist John McLaughlin.
