Clinton Server Faced Foreign Hacking Attempts
According to emails obtained by congressional Republicans, at least one employee of the data firm hired by Hillary Clinton to manage her private server was concerned the company was taking part in a cover-up.

Johnson’s letter asks a number of questions, including where those emails would be located, and recounts suspicions by an employee of Colorado-based Platte River Networks on the reduction of the amount of email data being stored on each backup.
Platte River had directed Datto to keep Clinton’s emails for 60 days, but Johnson claims that in late 2014 and 2015 – around the time the State Department asked for Clinton’s work-related emails – one of her staffers asked the firm to have Datto save only 30 days worth of emails.
Datto officials, anxious about the “sensitive high profile nature of the data”, then recommended upgrading security by adding sophisticated encryption technology to its backup systems, said the Datto official, who requested anonymity to discuss an issue involving a client.
The Obama administration argues that Mrs Clinton was essentially using a private email and so it’s up to her to go through the messages.
In June 2013, Johnson’s letter says, Platte River hired SECNAP Network Security Corp.to use a product called CloudJacket SMB, which is created to block network access by “even the most determined hackers”, according to company literature. Critics have alleged the server was used to transmit classified information. A forensic examination of Hillary Rodham Clinton’s private computer server could unearth more details than what she put in her emails.
“Ron Johnson is ripping a page from the House Benghazi Committee’s playbook and mounting his own, taxpayer-funded sham of an investigation with the sole goal of attacking Hillary Clinton politically”, Fallon said.
This probably also answers the question about whether Datto technicians were cleared to handle classified material.
At the same time, Platte River retained Datto to set up a virtual backup server that could provide immediate recovery if the primary server failed, Johnson said in his letter.
The email was sent shortly after news emerged that the Federal Bureau of Investigation was looking into the security of the server, and several months after it was revealed that Clinton exclusively used the private account to conduct State Department business.
The goal? Recovering the 31,000 emails Clinton deleted because she said they were “too personal”.

The message was sent after it was revealed that the FBI was investigating the security of the server when it emerged that Clinton was using the private account to conduct State Department business. He is seeking documents related to the work the company did on Clinton’s server. Representatives from Datto were anxious that Clinton’s server would be targeted once it became infamous over the summer.
