Clinton slams Benghazi committee in TV interview, ad

The ad then flashes to House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, who during an interview with Fox News last week committed what many consider to be a major political gaffe.

Laying the groundwork for the testimony, Clinton’s campaign released a new 30-second ad that says the Republicans “finally admit it” and points to McCarthy’s remarks. McCarthy stated that the GOP had put together the Benghazi Committee, that Clinton had been found to be “untrustable”, and that her poll numbers had slipped as a result.

“From affordable healthcare to equal pay, she’ll never stop fighting for you and the Republicans know it”, the ad claims.

A national gun debate in the wake of another mass shooting allows Clinton to “put a few sunlight” between her and Sanders “without a personal attack and doesn’t make her appear to be playing catch up on progressive issues, ” said John Hudak, a expert on the politics of guns at the Brookings Institution.

McKinnon also told bartender Clinton she was “really easy to talk to”, to which “Val” replied “That’s the first time I’ve ever heard that”, taking a shot at her frosty reputation. She did not say how many gun sales would constitute a “significant” number. The California measure is striking in contrast to the overwhelming support Clinton previously enjoyed in this heavily Democratic state. “How about the McCarthy hearings”, he said.

“This committee was set up, as they have admitted, for the objective of making a partisan political issue out of the deaths of four Americans”, Clinton said at a New Hampshire round-table on Monday. “I mean, I’m sorry in that I made a choice in that has resulted in this kind of situation, and I’ve asserted I’ve made a mistake”, the Democratic presidential candidate added.

Hillary Clinton’s aggressive gun control proposal comes as part of her bid to gain more traction over her political rivals including Senator Bernie Sanders, who has not yet announced his own gun control plan.

“I think we all have to speak up and speak out when they say things”, Clinton said.

While Clinton remains ahead among likely voters in the Democratic primary, excitement for her candidacy has waned, according to the poll. She now trails challenger Sen.

Clinton’s plan also calls for laws to prevent gun sales from going through without completed background checks (something now dubbed a “Charleston Loophole”); legislation that prohibits domestic abusers and stalkers from buying and possessing guns; the repeal of the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act so that dealers and manufacturers are held accountable for negligence when crimes are committed with products they’ve sold.
