Clinton surpasses Sanders in Massachusetts fundraising

History will be made as Clinton is officially nominated as the Democratic candidate for president, as she will be the first female ever nominated for president of a major party.

The second Democratic convention night is all about Clinton – although Hillary herself won’t be speaking yet.

The high cost of hotel rooms during the convention, which runs Monday through Thursday, has been a sore point for some delegates.

Mitch Ceasar, a Clinton delegate on leave from his post as Broward Democratic chairman because he’s running for circuit court clerk, hosted many of county’s delegates recently at Broward AFL-CIO headquarters in Plantation.

On Wednesday, President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden will address what’s at stake in the election. Some emails also show DNC and White House officials mulling whether to invite guests with controversial backgrounds to Democratic party events. Next up is the Democratic National Convention, which will have Democrats from around the country flocking to Philadelphia for the political event of the (election) season.

But in the speech, Clinton also praised the Dallas police officers who died “protecting peaceful march-there is nothing more vital to democracy than that, and they died for that”.

Contrast those speakers with those of the Republican National Convention (RNC) where parents who lost their children to illegal immigrants and Pat Smith, the mother of one of the men who was killed in the Benghazi, Libya attacks while Clinton was Secretary of State.

Unity will be the name of the game over the course of the four-day convention, he said, and expects Clinton’s nomination to be a historic moment.

Johnson also will be joined in Philadelphia by Zach Wahls, author of “My Two Moms: Lessons of Love, Strength, and What Makes a Family” and who, along with his sister, Zebby, co-created “The Woman Card” decks. Bernie Sanders, details of perks provided to party donors attending the convention; and email exchanges among party officials, journalists and others.

The council and caucus meetings held throughout the day at the Pennsylvania Convention Center are open to the public.

Pilots of “non-regularly scheduled air carriers” such as general aviation and corporate jets must have parking reservations obtained from Atlantic Aviation for both Philadelphia International and Northeast Philadelphia Airports, the FAA said. Once the convention is over, their next priority is the August 30 Democratic primary for congressional, state and local offices.

The DNC is supposed to beat up on Republicans, but it’s not supposed to take sides for any specific candidate in the primaries.
