Clinton takes aim at Trump over KKK stumble

David Duke, the former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard now at the center of GOP controversy over his support for Donald Trump, responded to the presidential candidate’s denouncement of his backing: “I’ll laugh it off. It’s fine”.

“(Trump’s) coddling of repugnant bigotry is not in the character of America”, Romney added yesterday.

And in a Facebook post, the following day, Duke wrote that he thinks Trump “deserves a close look by those who believe the era of political correctness needs to come to an end”. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) or Ted Cruz (R-Texas) would be “treason to your heritage”.

I thought of this story when I heard that Duke had endorsed Donald Trump for president and that Trump, inexplicably, said he did not know anything about Duke.

Secondly, David Duke and all was disavowed. We’re getting a lot of people coming in and I will tell you as you know, I know the Democrats very well also. In a Sunday interview, Trump blamed a defective earpiece for an unclear response about white supremacist groups. If you’re a Trump supporter at this point, you’re likely racist.

“Well, just so you understand, I don’t know anything about David Duke, OK?”

Trump disavowed Duke’s endorsement during a press conference on Friday.

“Chris Christie owns this debacle now”, Williams said. You wouldn’t want me to condemn a group that I know nothing about.

“I hope, you know, he’s treated going forward like the pariah that he is in the Republican Party now”.

Trump’s apparent unwillingness to disavow the KKK on Sunday quickly sparked a barrage of criticism.

They keep it going and they said, oh, we never looked at your twitter account.

Duke was asked what he would say to Trump. “How are we going to grow our party with a nominee that refuses to condemn the Ku Klux Klan?”

Over the weekend, CNN anchor Jake Tapper asked Trump about Duke’s recent comments, in which he told his followers to vote for Trump. He said he believed his support may have been a factor in Mr Trump seeing his numbers soar ahead of Super Tuesday, and of his successful night in which he won seven states.

“The government and the media in this country are absolutely destroying European people”, said Duke, who went on to blame gun violence on violent films produced by “the Jewish domination of media and culture”.
