Clinton Takes the Lead in First Post-DNC Poll

Michelle Obama said in her convention speech, “And because of Hillary Clinton, my daughters and all our sons and daughters now take for granted that a woman can be president of the United States”.

But Dugan’s conviction only grew deeper after Clinton delivered her speech accepting the Democratic nomination for president during the final night of the party’s national convention in Philadelphia.

One of the products she cited were Trump picture frames made in India.

Another South Asian element in her speech was a tribute to Army Captain Humayun Khan, a 27-year-old Pakistani-American army man killed in 2004 in Iraq trying to save his soldiers from a vehicle bomb. A man you can bait with a tweet is not a man we can trust with nuclear weapons, ” Clinton taunted.

Helping Clinton with her task of appearing as the steady hand at the tiller were retired U.S. military generals, Republicans furious over the rise of Trump, and in one of the night’s most poignant moments, a Muslim father with “undivided loyalty” to America and whose son was killed in a suicide bombing in Iraq. “I always knew she was a tough cookie, so that didn’t surprise me she was tough”.

Earlier this month a report from NBC News and SMG Delta, a firm that tracks ad spending, found that Trump and his supporters are being outspent by a 15-to-1 margin in television and radio ad spending by Clinton.

Delegates chanting United States of America, victims of the 9/11 attacks highlighted, the families of murdered cops taking the stage-it seemed like back to the future as Democrats appropriated the symbols that Republicans once owned. Clinton aides dismissed the protests as little more than a few holdouts. As confetti and balloons rained down at the conclusion of the Democratic jamboree, uniting the party and the country was the more dominant theme rather than just celebrating the gender barrier that has just broken.

But she conceded: “Too many people haven’t had a pay raise since the crash”, adding: “Democrats, we are the party of working people but we haven’t done a good enough job showing that we get what you’re going through, and that we’re going to do something about it.” she said.

OH and to a lesser extent Pennsylvania are among a handful of competitive states traditionally viewed as decisive in presidential elections, because they do not lean heavily Democratic or Republican.

Clinton used her speech to attack Trump – and his use of Twitter.

Among likely voters, Clinton is now polling at 46 percent; Donald Trump, 31 percent. He spoke for 70-odd minutes – and I do mean odd. After Trump’s speech, 57% of people reacted very positively.

“You have sacrificed nothing – and no one”. “It’s not so much that I’m on the ticket, it’s because of the stark choice that’s posed to Americans in this election”. Former Sanders supporters Sarah Silverman and “Mom” star Mimi Kennedy have said when it comes down to it, Clinton will get their votes.

Clinton is playing up economic opportunity, diversity and national security.

She is launching a three-day bus tour with Tim Kaine in the swing state of Pennysylvania and Ohio.

Just over 100 days before Americans go to the polls, voters are being asked to choose between two sharply polarised visions – and between two monumentally unpopular candidates. We do know that women leaders do tend to be more inclusive, and that Clinton would be inheriting a country that is more divided now than it was eight years ago when Barack Obama came to the White House promising he would bring the country together.
