Clinton to begin airing TV ads this week
One of the pair of ads (shown here) is named for Clinton’s mother, Dorothy, and tells her story of resilience through hardship. The ad then turns to Clinton’s time as senator from New York, when she “made sure the heroes and families of 9/11 got the care they needed”, according to a voiceover.

Dorothy is Clinton’s late mother.

Her renewed focus on economic issues also represents a move to draw in supporters of her challengers, Sen.
Marketing campaign officers, together with Palmieri, have repeatedly stated that Clinton is readying for a aggressive main election.
Iowa TV viewers soon will see Hillary Clinton talking about how her admiration for her mother drives her bid for the presidency.
“We’re going to ensure everybody is aware of who Hillary Clinton actually is – who she fights for and what has motivated her lifelong dedication to youngsters and households”, stated Robby Mook, Clinton’s marketing campaign supervisor.
The second ad, “Family Strong”, alludes to Clinton’s mother, but it primarily focuses on Clinton’s own story and casts her as an advocate for children and families. “Since Day 1, we’ve planned for a competitive primary with Hillary herself working to earn every vote and, ultimately, the nomination”. Be it through sharing the Dickensian tale of her mother, or reveling in her new role as a grandmother, Clinton is intent on reversing the trend by introducing voters to the candidate her campaign contends is “the most unknown well-known person in the world”.
The new ads were filmed two months ago, and the “Dorothy” spot pulls from the same interview that Clinton’s campaign used to make “Fighter”. That’s why I’ve always done this: “for all the Dorothys”. The ads will run statewide in New Hampshire, and Iowa’s two largest media markets – Des Moines and Cedar Rapids.
While the ads attempt to address lingering concerns about Clinton’s candidacy, Mook suggested the campaign’s decision to hit the airwaves now isn’t a specific reaction to growing speculation about the Democratic field growing – possibly to include Vice President Joe Biden.
“In Arkansas, she fought for school reform to change lives forever”. Clinton’s daughter, Chelsea, however, is not mentioned or pictured in either spot. While she remains the front-runner in the race, she’s faced signs of weakness in recent weeks, including declines in her favorability ratings and views of her trustworthiness.
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton waves as she steps onstage before speaking at Trident Technical College during a campaign stop, Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in North Charleston, S.C. To reach New Hampshire, the ads will run in the Boston/Manchester market, as well as Sanders’ hometown of Burlington, Vermont, just over the border.
The first Iowa ad she aired in 2007 was not as personal as the two spots that will begin airing Tuesday, although it was described in an Associated Press account as an effort to soften her image.
