Clinton to begin TV advertising in Iowa

In the ad that focuses on Dorothy Rodham, Clinton discusses her mother’s childhood at length, noting that she was abandoned by her parents but encountered a few kind adults who cared for her. “When she needed a champion, someone was there”.

“People showed her kindness, gave her a chance”, Clinton says in the video.

“We’re going to make sure everyone knows who Hillary Clinton really is, who she fights for, and what has motivated her lifelong commitment to children and families”, campaign manager Robby Mook said in a statement. I think about all the Dorothies all over America who fight for their families, who never give up. “That is why I am doing this”.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton waves as she steps onstage before speaking at Trident Technical College during a campaign stop, Wednesday, June 17, 2015, in North Charleston, S.C. To reach New Hampshire, the ads will run in the Boston/Manchester market, as well as Sanders’ hometown of Burlington, Vermont, just over the border. That’s why I’ve always done this: “for all the Dorothys”.

Toward the end of the ad, a narrator refers to her as “the secretary of State who joined the Cabinet of the man who defeated her, because when your president calls you serve”. “Since Day 1, we’ve planned for a competitive primary with Hillary herself working to earn every vote and, ultimately, the nomination”.

The campaign is spending about $1 million in each state over the next five weeks to air two 60-second biographical spots aimed at telling voters why Clinton is running for president.

Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton will air her first television ads of the 2016 presidential contest this week, her campaign said Sunday, as the candidate seeks to convince voters that she is a tough crusader with a softer side.

Nevertheless, controversies surrounding Clinton’s personal email server, fundraising by the Clinton Foundation and the candidate’s personal family foundation, as well as the Clintons’ rapidly accumulated wealth (disclosed in tax filings Friday) opened new avenues of attack at the outset of her campaign. They focus on Clinton’s work on behalf of families and relationship with her late mother- central themes of her early campaign. “For all the Dorothys”, she adds.

“My mom’s life and what she went through are big reasons why standing up for kids and families became such a big part of my life”, Clinton says in one ad.

“The good news for Secretary Hillary Clinton is that she is over 50 percent among Democrats and has a double-digit lead over [Donald] Trump”, Quinnipiac poll assistant director Tim Malloy said. From the time she left the State Department, public impressions of her have deteriorated and several recent polls highlighted the size of the problem. Her privately disseminated and stored emails are being released on a monthly basis by the State Department and are subject to litigation under the Freedom of Information Act.

The new spots come amid fresh speculation that Vice President Joe Biden may challenge Clinton for the party’s nomination.
