Clinton has released tax returns every year dating to 1997.
In addition, her running mate, Sen.
Reuters could not immediately confirm the reports, and representatives for the campaign did not immediately reply to an emailed request for comment. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), will release new tax returns in the coming days, according to a person close to Clinton.
There are a number of reasons Trump might not want to released his returns, including, as the New Yorker points out, that he pays a low tax rate, or he donates very little to charity, or that the billionaire doesn’t want tax professionals snooping around.
The Clinton campaign has made it a point to remind the USA that Trump has not released his returns.
Critics, including 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney, have blasted Trump for failing to disclose his tax rate and raised questions about what his returns say about his net worth as well as his various business ties, particularly in Russian Federation. He has said he will do so when an audit is complete, suggesting the matter is out of his hands, though experts say he and his lawyers can influence the timing.
