Clinton to resume campaigning after pneumonia as race tightens

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Hillary Clinton returned to campaigning without offering apologies for keeping her pneumonia a secret, focusing on criticizing opponent Donald Trump instead of how she handled her health problem and the three-day rest ordered by her doctor.

A Quinnipiac University poll out Wednesday found that Clinton edged Trump 41 percent to 39 percent when third party candidates were factored in.

Following her appearance in North Carolina, Clinton was scheduled to appear at a Washington dinner.

According to a recent report, Hillary Clinton has made a decision to resume her election campaign, today, on September 15, as little time is left in general elections.

“And I’ll tell you something else, people accuse me of all kinds of things, you probably have seen that, but nobody ever accuses me of quitting and I will never give up, I’ll never walk away, no matter how tough the going gets”.

Clinton has been under fire as questions swirled about her health and her team’s disclosures about her pneumonia diagnosis after she was caught on video having trouble walking during a 9/11 memorial in NY.

Her illness coincided with a mini-surge by Trump, who has drawn even or taken a slight lead in national polls. A CNN/ORC poll this week found Trump leading by five in OH and basically tied with Clinton in Florida.

Trump says he, too, plans to release details from a recent physical, though it’s unclear when that will happen and how much information he will provide.

The new letter from Clinton’s doctor stated that a chest scan revealed she had “mild, non-contagious bacterial pneumonia”.

“You think Hillary would be able to stand up here for an hour and do this?”

This story has been corrected to delete a reference to Clinton releasing additional health information; it was based on an interview recorded with her before she released a new letter from her doctor with updated health information on Wednesday. A release from the show said “Dr. Oz took Mr. Trump though a full review of his systems”, including his nervous system, cardiovascular health, prostate health and family medical history. Clinton’s pneumonia symptoms began around the start of this month, and she saw Bardack on September 2 for a low-grade fever, congestion and fatigue.

Recent opinion polls show the Clinton-Trump gap narrowing with less than seven weeks before Election Day.

As the Democrat recuperated at home in Chappaqua, New York earlier this week, her campaign released a detailed health bulletin by her personal physician Lisa Bardack.

The episode added fuel to questions about Clinton’s health and provided a fresh line of attack for her Republican rival, Donald Trump, who has frequently questioned whether Clinton has the stamina to serve as commander in chief.

“This was an ailment that many people just power through and that’s what I thought I would do as well”, Clinton told reporters Thursday.

Clinton also used the speech as an opportunity to criticize Trump.

On Sunday, she had to be helped into a van after abruptly leaving the World Trade Center memorial after aides said she felt “overheated”. The margin of error for the sample of likely voters is plus or minus 3 percentage points.

Mr Miller’s statement said Mr Trump “believes that President Obama was born in the United States”.

Former Sec. of State Clinton departed from the standard stump speech and talked about why she is running and what matters to her. She’ll return to the campaign trail Thursday.
