Clinton, Trump Move Closer to Nominations
But if no candidate reaches that 50 percent threshold, the delegates are awarded proportionally.

Trump picked up 89 of New York’s 95 delegates.
“He (Trump) had lost a number of states to Cruz and a series of missteps had raised doubts about his staying power with voters”.
But his delight was evident as he walked through a crowd of family and supporters in the Trump Tower lobby amid a recording of Frank Sinatra crooning, “New York, New York”.
She mentioned Mr Sanders only briefly as she appealed for support from his loyal backers, and saved her toughest talk for Mr Trump and Texas senator Ted Cruz, deeming both “dangerous” for America. And a push in Pennsylvania could line up unbound delegates “who will work at the convention to nominate the most electable candidate in the fall”, Weaver said – and, another way of saying to get folks who will back Kasich. Those totals include both pledged delegates from primaries and caucuses and superdelegates, the party insiders who can back the candidate of their choice regardless of how their state votes.
“We don’t have much of a race anymore”, he said.
Trump also mentioned Bernie Sanders in his victory speech: “I am no fan of Bernie’s”.
Republican Donald Trump strengthened his own path to the general election with a commanding victory, but has little room for error in the states ahead. Cruz and Kasich are hoping he does not receive the 1,237 delegates required for Republican presidential nomination.
He added Trump has a “real problem winning west of the Mississippi River” and that Western state contests create an “ominous storm-cloud for the Trump campaign”. I am not surprised by a Trump victory because he’s from NY. When a chosen nominee is not in place, the parties have contested conventions.
What do you think about the Trump and Clinton victories in NY?
Ted Cruz on Wednesday said he was not discouraged by his massive loss in Tuesday’s NY primary.
Rather, his strategy was to pick off scattered delegates in a handful of friendlier congressional districts, including those on either side of Central Park, where the relatively few Republicans in Democratic New York City tend toward greater moderation than the typical member of the GOP. Given his breathtaking ignorance, it’s unusually important that Trump find people who understand the world to help him manage it. Trump himself has said one of his goals is to fire stupid people and bring in smart ones to replace them. Connecticut, Delaware, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Maryland will hold primary elections on April 26.

“I mean frankly she should not be allowed to run, for Christ’s sake”, he said. A tiny faction of delegates will go to the statewide victor – likely Trump.
