Clinton, Trump release health info in TV shows, try to persuade voters
With pressure mounting for the presidential candidates to give details about their health and medical histories, Donald Trump acknowledged on Wednesday that he was overweight and taking a cholesterol-fighting drug, and Hillary Clinton elaborated on the circumstances that led to her contracting pneumonia and the medicine she was taking to recover.

“Despite bad marks on honesty, despite what voters perceive as a level of arrogance that puts her above the rules, voters say nearly 2-1 that Hillary Clinton is qualified to be president, and say by a wide margin that Donald Trump is not qualified”, said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac Poll. Trump’s Thursday appearance on The Dr Oz Show was billed by the campaign as a discussion about his general well-being and his family’s medical history.
The Republican nominee had taped an episode of The Dr. Oz Show in NY that was scheduled to air on Thursday.
Mrs Clinton, 68, almost collapsed at a Sept 11 memorial ceremony in NY on Sunday.
Hillary Clinton has released new information about her health as she recuperated from a diagnosis of “mild, non-contagious” pneumonia, with her doctor stressing she remains healthy overall and “fit to serve” as president.
Both candidates, among the oldest ever to run for the White House, have been under intense pressure to share more medical information.
The Republican said his plans would raise the nation’s economic growth rate to at least 3.5 percent, well above its current rate of about 2 percent, and create 25 million new jobs over the next 10 years.
Clinton’s doctor declared her healthy. She’s been evaluated by Bardack several times since and her condition has continued to improve, according to the letter.
“The medical information I put out, and we’re going to put out more, meets and exceeds the standard [s] that other presidential candidates, including President Obama and Mitt Romney, have met”, she said.
While speaking to reporters, Clinton also went off on Donald Trump for calling a pastor who interrupted his remarks in Flint, Michigan on Wednesday a “nervous mess”.
“His Doctor Oz charade is as completely unserious as his original joke of a letter written in five minutes”, Mook said.
Robby Mook, Hillary for America Campaign Manager, said: “It’s fair to say the public now knows more about Hillary Clinton than almost anyone in public life”.
Dr Bardack said Mrs Clinton’s vital signs remained normal.
Her campaign first released a statement saying she “felt overheated” at the outdoor event.
Bardack said Clinton has been seen by her regularly this year for routine care.
Clinton’s first medical note, released by her campaign in January 2015, was a little longer, at two pages, than Trump’s four paragraphs issued last December.
Clinton has received two vaccinations against pneumonia – Prevnar and Pneumovax – according to the letter.
“She continues to remain healthy and fit to serve as President of the United States”, said Dr. Lisa Bardarck, Clinton’s personal doctor. The letter said Kaine has never smoked and his alcohol use is “modest”.

Trump shared “a comprehensive summary of a battery of tests” performed by his doctor on “The Dr. Oz Show” Wednesday, the show said in a press release.
