Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is releasing a new letter from her doctor in an attempt to allay concerns after her weekend medical scare.

Clinton’s growing unpopularity follows renewed focus on her use of a private email server while she served as secretary of state, as well as alleged conflicts of interest over her connections to the Clinton Foundation fundraising. Only after the release of the video did the Clinton campaign reveal she had been diagnosed with pneumonia.

Clinton told CNN on Monday that she had ignored her doctor’s advice to get five days of rest because she “didn’t think it was going to be that big a deal”.

“I have just examined her and she is now re-hydrated and recovering nicely”, Bardack added at the time.

Clinton, 68, recently underwent a complete physical exam, which found her blood pressure was 100/70, her heart rate was 70 and her cholesterol was 189, Bardack said.

The Trump campaign yesterday released a doctor’s letter saying its candidate is in “excellent physical health”. In addition, it was written that Clinton’s condition is not contagious and that she is expected to make a full recovery after 10 days of antibiotics.

At a rally on Wednesday, Mr Trump referred to Mrs Clinton’s health scare, seemingly casting doubt on her fitness.

Clinton’s return to the trail is sure to come with additional scrutiny and questions regarding her overall health.

Tim Kaine, said “there’s been a double standard applied” for Clinton as a woman when it comes to her health and disclosure of medical records.

Her Republican rival Donald Trump released his own medical data on a TV talk show.

The United States is “uniquely bad at electing women to office”, the Virginia senator told a crowd at the University of MI, citing it a factor affecting her race against the NY billionaire. “She was advised to rest”, according to the letter, “put on a short course of antibiotics and continued on her allergy medications for an upper respiratory tract infection in the setting of her seasonal allergies”, but the condition worsened.

It also showed her vaccinations are up to date and she has had a normal mammogram and breast ultrasound.

The blood clot, which was in a vein in the space between the brain and the skull behind the right ear, led Clinton to spend a few days in New York-Presbyterian Hospital and take a month-long absence from the State Department for treatment. Her blood levels have been relatively stable.
