Clinton, who on Tuesday won NY by 16 percentage points, leads Sanders 57% to 32% among likely Democratic primary voters, the poll finds.
During the meeting, Clinton only mentioned Sanders once, which signals a switch from her direct attacks on him ahead of the NY primary. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, are refusing to leave the race despite being – according to Trump – “mathematically eliminated” from securing the nomination before the convention.
Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump speaks during a campaign event at Stephen Decatur High School in Berlin, Md., on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.
“The demographics of Maryland’s Democratic electorate are similar to past primary states where Clinton has done very well”, said Monmouth pollster Patrick Murray.
Two separate surveys released on Friday reveal Sanders and Clinton locked in a close race for in, with elections there slated for May 3. Clinton carried all of the counties in and around New York City, but struggled in most counties in upstate New York, which went to Sanders.
Citing Bernie Sanders, who first questioned Clinton’s qualifications, Trump noted that the Vermont senator has “been tough on her”.
During a CNN interview with Gloria Borger in January, Biden backed Sanders’ fight on income inequality and described Clinton as “relatively new” to the movement.
Thus far, Cruz has advanced the cause with wins in delegates in states such as North Dakota, Utah, South Carolina and Wyoming.
Before Tuesday, Mrs Clinton led Mr Sanders 1,292 to 1,042 in the delegate count.
Sanders also questioned New Yorks rules governing party affiliation in primary elections.
Now here is where Pennsylvania is significantly different than other states in awarding delegates: The second part of Pennsylvania’s primary is the vote for the remaining 54 delegates.
Trump continues to dominate public opinion on his Republican candidacy, both positive and negative.
Ted Cruz the Republican presidential candidate is hoping for a contested convention in July to earn the nomination of the party, guaranteeing that none of the contenders would earn the required 1,237 delegates prior to the convention.
