Clinton vows to address pay fairness for women in PA event
Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton walks on stage after winning the highly contested NY primary on April 19, 2016, in NY.

Rickey Cole, chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party, said he expected better from Sanders. It also can start to set voter registration and turnout goals, coordinate early- and absentee-voting targets and register people to vote. “To all the people who supported Senator Sanders, I believe that there is much more that unites us than divides us”, she said. But he’s also voted in favor of banning assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines. “In places where there are a fair number of young hipsters potentially, gentrifiers we call them”, says Fessenden. A donation to the “Victory Fund” is split between Clinton’s primary campaign, her possible general campaign, the Democratic National Committee and various Democratic state parties. “Sanders, but I think you know it’s certainly gotten brambled”, said Neil Sroka with the progressive group Democracy for America, which supports Sanders. Her lead in pledged delegates now is more than twice as large as Obama’s ever was, in 2008.
Some of Clinton’s backers say they are nervous about her campaign’s fundraising strategy of relying heavily on donors who are able to write big checks, and who max out more quickly. He and Clinton are scheduled to debate one last time May 24 in California. Clinton now has far fewer staffers across the nation than Barack Obama did during his re-election four years ago.
Sanders, an independent senator from Vermont, plans to stay in the race until the convention in July despite huge losses. Clinton said she had no regrets about giving paid speeches. If a Democratic president could get the right justice appointed to the supreme court, he argued, then the USA could again begin to separate money from politics.
Locally, where a #PhillyTheBern mural adorns a wall at 22nd and Catharine, fervent Sanders supporters include Rob Grote, lead singer of the rising rock quartet the Districts. Under party rules, they’re considered “unpledged” and can support whichever presidential candidate they choose – and while some of Washington’s say they’re neutral, most have backed Clinton. “That is the most conservative part of this great country, that’s the fact”.
“MoveOn members overwhelmingly endorsed Sanders for president, and we want him to win the most pledged delegates, become the nominee and become president”, he said. “We had a late burst of momentum”.
Graves wasn’t the only fence-sitter I met at a Clinton campaign event that was overwhelmingly pro-Clinton without hesitation. Clinton was joined by five gun control advocates including Erica Smegielski, who mother was killed at Sandy Hook.
She also said she is not a delegate looking for a future job in a Clinton administration – something Victor Ashe, a political columnist and former Republican mayor, has speculated on.

“Human nature has not changed”, Clinton said, “but the megaphones that are now used to trumpet these kinds of attitudes has just magnified this issue”. “It’s an ad of shared values in the broader sense, protecting citizens from harm that may come to them, supporting families with things like health care”. The Quinnipiac poll showed Clinton leading Sanders there 51 percent to 42 percent. Even so, Sroka hopes Sanders will stay in it through the final contests in June, running a spirited campaign. “That’s a sad reality of American society”, Sanders said, before pivoting to his talking points.
