Clinton vs Sanders in Nevada: Urban vs rural

Clinton has historically done very well in the state, even beating then-senator Obama for the democratic vote in 2008, however a Sanders win would show that the perceived inevitability of Clinton’s presidential nomination from the democratic party would be at an end.

Sanders’ strategy is driven in part because Nevada Democrats allocate delegates to caucus winners based on congressional districts, giving greater weight to sparsely populated areas like Elko. Sanders has kept the Democratic race closer than expected, and a win in Nevada after his strong win in New Hampshire would indicate that the contest is far from over.

Clinton’s campaign deployed an array of high-profile supporters throughout Las Vegas, including former Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, actress Jamie Lee Curtis and several members of Congress, including Marcia Fudge of Ohio, Maxine Waters and Zoe Lofgren of California and Luis Gutierrez of IL. Clinton now has double Sanders’ support in the state, according to a NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll released Friday. Sanders said he appreciated Welchs support.

“A minimum wage worker and a billionaire are equally free to spend whatever they want on politics. I think we owe it to them to move as expeditiously as we can”, Sanders said.

Speaking to reporters on his campaign plane on Thursday afternoon, Sanders described some of President Bill Clinton’s biggest achievements, the NAFTA trade agreement and welfare overhaul, as “disastrous”.

Experts said Sanders is gaining popularity on his anti-establishment message, at a time when Democrats also say they are fed up with Washington insiders.

” We’ve been firing on all cylinders for a while”. In New Hampshire, there was even an argument to be made that it would be almost impossible for anyone to beat a likable senator from the nearby state.

An Associated Press survey of superdelegates, who are influential in picking the nominee, found that 449 of the party insiders back Clinton, while only 19 support Sanders. The “tight race” we’re all watching is little more than political theater.

With two days to go before the democratic caucuses in Nevada, Hillary Clinton is campaigning in Las Vegas. So the campaigning has now turned ugly, and the candidates are attacking records and statements, including the recent accusation of a Sanders’ surrogate attacking Clinton because she is a woman. “I’ve lost a lot of elections”, he said, laughing, explaining his caution.

‘Always tried to.’ Jimmy Carter said, ‘I will never lie to you’.

MA and Vermont are the only states in the Northeast with primaries on March 1st. I don’t believe I ever will. I’m going to do the best I can to level with the American people. If the Democratic candidate is Clinton, she gets 39 to Trump’s 37 percent and Bloomberg receives 17 percent. Sanders held two large rallies in western MA, in Springfield last fall and at UMass Amherst in January.
