Clinton vs. Trump: virtual tie in Florida, tight race in Ohio

Mrs. Clinton leads the NY businessman, 46% to 43%, in a test matchup between the two likely nominees, the poll finds.

Sanders said that if he won the White House, he would not reappoint U.S. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz as DNC chairwoman. “No, I don’t”, Sanders told CBS’ “Face the Nation”. “What we need to do is to say to working-class people – we are on your side”, he said.

The ABC/WaPo poll also showed heavy intransigence among Sanders supporters, with 20 percent of the Vermont senator’s supporters saying they would actually vote for Donald Trump in November rather than Hillary Clinton. For example, NBC shows Clinton at +3 now and +11 in April. Most political observers expect that supporters of Bernie Sanders will come around to supporting Clinton, or at least agreeing to vote for her, once Sanders has definitively left the race and, the experts expect, handed Clinton his endorsement.

“Trump’s lack of a ground game isn’t surprising”.

A new Washington Post/ABC News poll shows Donald Trump just ahead of Hillary Clinton in the presidential race, 46% to 44%. He appealed to Democratic superdelegates who overwhelmingly favored Clinton to change their minds. Half of voters in the current poll say they wouldn’t consider an independent or third-party candidate.

The share of Democratic primary voters who view Mrs Clinton favourably has dropped from 84% last June to 65% while the share who view her negatively jumped from 7% to 21%. She said it’s time to talk about Trump because his candidacy poses “immediate dangers” to the country.

“I want the American people to be voting for a vision of economic justice, of social justice, of environmental justice, of racial justice”, Sanders told ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos Sunday.

After Sanders’ endorsement of her opponent, Wasserman Schultz said in a statement that she would remain neutral in the Democratic presidential race. “And I think most of Senator Sanders’s supporters understand that as well”.

This weekend, Louisville, Kentucky played host to the National Rifle Association convention – an annual meeting of pistols and politics that this year boasted a 500,000 square foot firearms display.

Sanders said he was not encouraging protests at the Philadelphia convention, “but of course people have the right to peacefully assemble and make their views heard”.

“Polls this far out mean nothing”, Clinton said on NBC’s “Meet the Press”.
