Clinton vs Trump: Who’s winning the marketing race?
“As long as we are led by politicians who will not put ‘America First, ‘ then we can be assured that other nations will not treat America with respect”, Trump says, according to excerpts released ahead of his address.

Donald Trump accepted the Republican Party’s presidential nomination Thursday night and promised a dramatic overhaul of US foreign and domestic policy, vowing to build a border wall, scrap trade agreements, reduce government regulation, slash taxes and “make America great again”.
“Middle-income Americans and businesses will experience profound relief, and taxes will be greatly simplified for everyone”, he said. But on Thursday the Texan met anger and denunciations from many sides and was even heckled at a breakfast meeting of his own Texas delegation where a vocal minority of the large crowd was furious.
The same day Cruz angered Trump supporters by not honoring a silly political pledge to endorse the GOP nominee, Trump was quoted in a New York Times interview praising another authoritarian and asserting that he would ignore global treaties signed by the United States. Maybe he just recognizes that when you pledge to support the Republican nominee but then that nominee turns out to hate everything you stand for, be a danger to national security, and repeatedly imply that your father helped murder a former president, you don’t have to fulfill your pledge anymore.
Trump’s wife, Melania, foreshadowed it all on opening night, noting, “It would not be a Trump contest without excitement and drama”.
“Friends, delegates and fellow Americans: I humbly and gratefully accept your nomination for the presidency of the United States”. Balloons will drop from the ceiling, and the stage will be filled with Trump family members and supporters.
The delegates took full advantage.
“Nothing has affected me more than the time I have spent with the mothers and fathers who have lost children to violence spilling across our borders. I need for all of you to join me”, he beseeched his audience.
“Clinton will also be forced to get nasty and say some pretty outlandish and mean things”.
For the presidential nominee, the mission is to energize the party’s base and project to the wider world of independent voters a sense of steadfastness and serious objective.
If these people were looking to Trump’s speech for clues about how he’d retool the country for the modern digital economy, they’d be out of luck. Combined, they referred to themselves 4,569 times and used the more inclusive “we” words only 2,840 times.
Mr Manafort added that Mr Cruz “was not respectful” to that invitation, but he insisted despite that snub, the Republican Party is coming together.
If anything underscored the uniqueness of Donald Trump’s campaign, it was his contention in Cleveland that Hillary Clinton is the puppet of big business.
Hillary Clinton was everywhere. Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine emerged as the leading contender, according to two Democrats familiar with the selection process, with an announcement expected as early as Friday. Convention delegates formally nominated Mr Trump on Tuesday.
There, Clinton said, voters can expect to see a vastly different gathering: no “scary speeches”, no people “yelling at us at the top of their lungs like they did all week”. It was a surreal moment given how carefully scripted political conventions normally are, and served as a fresh reminder that Trump events rarely go by the rules. Cruz exacted his revenge to that insult to his father by walking off the convention stage without endorsing Trump. The last man standing after Trump defeated the rest of this year’s large and experienced GOP primary field, Cruz’s future political viability may now rise or fall on whether his decision to deny Trump at the billionaire’s own coronation looks good or bad four years from now. On Tuesday, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, a former federal prosecutor, went as far as convening a mock trial, seeking to convict the former first lady and secretary of state. I am watching and I am listening. He insisted he would not be a “servile puppy dog”, especially after Trump’s criticism of his wife and father.
Why doubt her reality?
They’re already really afraid and certain the country is near doom. The lovely speech by Melania Trump, followed by the twin bombshells that it was plagiarized from Michelle Obama and that Melania Trump really likes and admires Michelle Obama.

Fat chance. Cruz, popular on the right of the party, not only declined to endorse but actively encouraged his conservative backers not to vote for the mogul. “Great love in the arena!”
