Clinton Weighs Keeping Lynch as Attorney General if She Wins — NY Times

Within the next two weeks or so, the expectation is there will be an announcement of no charges being brought against Clinton so long as no evidence of wrongdoing emerges from her interview with the FBI, sources familiar with the investigation told CNN. However, still, it is not clear whether Clinton’s interview indicated a conclusion to the investigation or not.

The California Democrat went on to say that last Monday’s encounter in Phoenix between the attorney general and the former president was pure “chance” and he believes Lynch that the discussion was not about the ongoing federal probe into Clinton’s email server.

On Saturday, before news of Clinton’s interview broke, he tweeted a picture declaring Clinton “Most Corrupt Candidate Ever!”

The attorney general has since said she should not have met the former president as people who have questions about how “we in the government do our business” will have “another reason to have questions and concerns”. They claimed it was an impromptu meeting.

A representative from Clinton’s campaign reportedly said that it was a voluntary interview.

The aide wasn’t authorized to be named and spoke about Bill Clinton’s reaction to the controversy on condition of anonymity.

The FBI interview was read as a signal that the investigation might soon be wrapped up, but the FBI reportedly has yet to conclude its technical analysis of the material. “What she did was wrong!”.

The long-awaited interview came as federal officials were expected to soon wrap up their investigation into Clinton’s personal email setup during her stint as US secretary of state. The FBI has been investigating whether sensitive information was mishandled.

The image posted Saturday quickly drew scrutiny online, raising accusations of anti-Semitism.

A Trump campaign spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

A State Department review released in May faulted Clinton for her exclusive use of the private email server during her tenure as secretary of state, saying the practice posed a security risk and did not comply with government records laws.

In the Washington Post, commentator Chris Cillizza wrote: “If Clinton was indicted for her role in creating and maintaining her private email server, she would nearly certainly be forced to leave the race”.

But Lynch insisted that she, as a political appointee, will not overrule investigators or otherwise interfere in the legal process regarding the probe, and that the integrity of the Justice Department will be upheld.

Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is considering keeping Attorney Gen. Loretta Lynch in her current position, The New York Times reports. As part of that goal, Lynch, who started her tenure past year, would retain her post. She will in all likelihood be opposed by Donald Trump.

Obama and Clinton were originally scheduled to appear together last month in Green Bay, Wisconsin, but they postponed the event because of the shootings in Orland, Florida.
