Clintons Paid 34.2% Effective Tax Rate in 2015, Campaign Says
The bulk of their income – more than $6 million (about €5.4 million) – came from speaking fees for appearances largely made before Ms Clinton launched her campaign last April.

Federal tax rates have become an issue in the presidential election.
“In stark contrast, Donald Trump is hiding behind fake excuses and backtracking on his previous promises to release his tax returns”, Palmieri added.
The Clintons have disclosed returns for every year dating back to 1977, in part due to laws requiring public officials release returns.
The Clinton campaign has said Trump is trying to hide something by not releasing his returns.
But the billionaire Trump has declined to release his, arguing that his tax returns for the past several years are being audited.
Williams said Clinton is right to say that Trump’s companies would indeed pay half the current tax rate.
Trump has said he is worth more than $10 billion, but no one has been able to confirm this independently.
Hillary Clinton has faced calls to release the transcripts of her speeches, particularly from the three she gave for Goldman Sachs for a total of $US675,000.
On Friday, NBC News/The Wall Street Journal/Marist released polls for the traditional swing states of Florida, Colorado, North Carolina, and Virginia. “It must be opening new vistas of human thought”.
The Clintons’ 2015 return showed that, unlike most Americans, just $100 of their income came from wages.
The video also shows Trump himself.
A tax return would also show how much money Trump makes a year. But he said it’s harder to state definitively whether that would be lower than middle-class families’ rates, since it would depends on their income level, and thus tax rate, as well as the amount they pay in payroll taxes. The Clintons also donated roughly a tenth (9.8 percent) of their annual income to charity.
Clinton had already released her tax returns for the years 2001-2014.
The speech figures are not a surprise.
The lack of a disclosure of his taxes has opened Trump to attacks from his opponents, first during the Republican nominating contests and now in the months leading to the November 8 general election. Trump routinely points to Clinton’s initial support of the TPP, which she helped to negotiate while she was secretary of state.
Clinton once called the TPP the “gold standard” of trade deals when she served as Obama’s secretary of state, but she announced her opposition to the deal a year ago, saying it did not meet her standard for creating jobs, raising wages and protecting national security. Mrs Clinton earned about $3m from book royalties.
