Clippers edge Grizzlies 94-92 on Redick’s late scoring

In a league where teams go smaller, play faster, and shoot more three-pointers, the Grizzlies have a core reliant on post play with little outside shooting.

Clippers defeat Grizzlies 94-92 in Matt Barnes’ return: Matt Barnes sat in a locker room at Staples Center on Monday evening. Clippers center DeAndre Jordan batted the rebound out to Paul on the perimeter, where he was immediately wrapped up by the Grizzlies’ Tony Allen. Center DeAndre Jordan had 13 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks. “It’s going to be a fun game tonight”. “We played their game and won but that’s not the way we want to play”. He made each of his free throws to put the Clippers up, 90-86, with 13.3 seconds left, and they held on for the victory. “I ain’t with all that talking and Instagraming and tweeting and bluffing”, Grizzlies power forward Zach Randolph told Memphis Commercial Appeal.

“We played Grizzlies basketball”, Randolph said. “A lot of that was not the point guard, it was just the way we played”.

The final 13 seconds turned into a foul fest.

Gasol was only 3 of 6 over the final six seconds while an especially loud male fan taunted him. They came into the game ranked 26th in defensive efficiency, which is why Grizzlies coach Dave Joerger was comparatively rosy after the game. At their best, they “grit and grind” out games with their defense, and get just enough of the high-low combos and smart passing of Gasol and Randolph, combined with Conley’s underrated helmsmanship.

Grizzlies: Barnes faced his old team for the first time since leaving over the summer. Gasol received a flagrant-1 foul after hitting Griffin in the nose with his left arm in the fourth.

It’s the first meeting between the teams this season. Paul returned after missing one game with a sore right groin…. After attempting to run out the clock, Chris Paul got fouled with. It was Barnes’ first visit since the Clippers traded him in the off-season. I certainly think that’s a factor, but Gasol’s conditioning also looks nowhere near as good as it did coming into a year ago, and couple that with the neck injury he’s already struggling with and you’ve got a recipe for a slow-starting Gasol. L.A.is home but I’m in Memphis now.

In a Real GM thread, it was suggested that the Memphis Grizzlies take a chance on Nick Young.

“He was a great instigator”.

Mavericks fans likely have Wednesday’s game against the Clippers circled on their calendars.

“They’re going to boo louder I guess”, Rivers said. “At the end of the day, their job is not to cheer for us anyway”. “Looking at my favorite players growing up, I never looked at their percentages, honestly”.

“A 50-point loss to the Golden State Warriors last week even prompted a few snark from the Clippers’ official Twitter account, which sent out a message with the hashtag “#didntloseby50” after the Clippers fell to the Warriors by a comparatively slim four points two days later.
