Clippers hold off Lakers 94-84 in Bryant’s last Xmas game
Kobe Bryant is getting the legend treatment for the All-Star Game in his final National Basketball Association season, and that’s totally fine with Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers.

The Lakers scored 27 points in the fourth quarter and the Clippers starters had to come back and finish the game.
In the third period, the Clippers stomped on the Lakers’ necks and attempted to take the life out of the home team for the holidays.
–Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris apologized for a towel-throwing incident that resulted in a two-game suspension for conduct detrimental to the team.
And those weren’t the words Friday of Bryant’s coach, Byron Scott.
“I think it’s obviously a tribute – I don’t think it has a whole lot to do with this year”, Scott said. “(Huertas) was able to make some plays. “Listen, you have to be realistic about what we’re facing and where we are right now as a team and as an organization”, Bryant said after Wednesday’s loss.
“I’ll put it to you this way: If I lost that championship, I’d be miserable”, he said. “I’m listening to Dropkick Murphys all the time just because I want to remember that feeling”. The Lakers did end up cutting the deficit to single digits, but by that point it was too late for Bryant to return.
Chris Paul ran free with 23 points and six assists and DeAndre Jordan did his usual thing – nine points and 14 rebounds.
The Clippers (16-13) have played on Christmas for the past four years, winning three times. Despite a 28-point lead, they were wrong.
Lakers small forward Kobe Bryant will be playing on Christmas Day for the 16th and final time. “It has kind of become a part of our family routine”. It appears that will happen after Bryant led all players in the first voting figures released Friday, his 719,235 votes topping even defending league most valuable player Stephen Curry (510,202). Kobe Bryant, in his swan song season for the Los Angeles Lakers, is the early leader in voting for the 2016 NBA All-Star game, the NBA announced yesterday.
“I was like, ‘Whoa, that’s pretty good, ‘” Scott said before the game. But I just can’t cut really quickly right now. “So for KB to be so far ahead of him… shows the appreciation that the fans have for his body of work over 20 years”.
