Every so often, Jamal Crawford gets to remind everyone he can still be a prolific scorer.

The Pistons’ 60 first-half points were their highest total this season. Andre Drummond was controlling the paint on both ends of the floor, ultimately finishing with 18 points and 19 rebounds.

BUCKS 108, CAVALIERS 105, 2 OT (at Milwaukee) – Jerryd Bayless scored 17 points and held LeBron James scoreless over the final 3:15 of the second overtime to snap the Cavaliers’ eight-game winning streak. That’s a welcoming development for a team who’s still at only 31% for the year, 26th in the league.

The Clippers were without starting point guard Chris Paul who has missed three of the team’s last four games with a strained groin.

Jamal Crawford entered Saturday’s game between his Clippers and the Detroit Pistons shooting 38.3 percent from the field. As he was falling out of bounds on the baseline, he threw the ball off Ilyasova to retain possession.

In a halftime interview, Rivers added: “What pisses me off is that coaches get T’s for losing their composure but nothing happens when officials do”. His nine straight double-doubles mark the Pistons’ longest season-opening streak dating to 1985-86 and the league’s longest point-rebound opening run since Zach Randolph (11) in 2012-13.

Jackson made a pair of free throws that cut the Clippers’ lead to one with eight seconds left.

Andre Drummond’s free-throw shooting again became a focus, as he was fouled intentionally and put on the free-throw line during critical times of the game.

Three free throws by Ilyasova boosted the Pistons to a 75-64 cushion with 4:34 left in the third quarter. A 37 point night from the seemingly ageless Jamal Crawford was not.

The Clippers trailed by 17 in their first day game of the season before taking an 81-80 lead into the fourth. If Toronto doesn’t get them on Tuesday, the Clippers might have the best shot of anyone at knocking them down.

“We felt we should have won three of the five”, coach Byron Scott said.

Stanley Johnson was playing a homecoming of sorts and the nerves initially showed as his first shot was a driving air ball and he followed it up with an absolute brick three-point attempt on his second shot. So, we didn’t do a very good job. But the first revolution not only forced Lance Stephenson out of the first unit, it limited him to one minute and 42 seconds of playing time in the Clippers’ 101-96 victory over the Detroit Pistons.

“He played great”, Van Gundy said of Crawford.

Golden State awaits: Luckily, the Clippers get a big rest advantage before their next meeting with the Warriors, with four full days of rest in between games (including two practices, which might help the roster congeal).
