Clooney in Armenia as commemoration of massacre begins
Speaking at the second Global Forum Against the Crime of Genocide in Yerevan on Saturday, actor and humanitarian George Clooney, called the genocide a part of world history, not just Armenian history.

The U.S.is seeking Turkey’s help with the Syrian refugee crisis and the campaign against the Islamic State group. Turkey denies that the killings constituted genocide and says that the figures are exaggerated and estimates the total killed to be 300,000.
“We should ensure that such dissemination of hatred should not have a place in our times, that every government should refrain from such a behavior as it will fear being held accountable”.
More than 20 countries have formally recognized the genocide including Canada, Russia, Italy, and Uruguay.
The Armenian Genocide, which was perpetrated by the Ottoman Empire government, resulted not only in the death of 1,5 million and dispossession of more than half of million human beings but also in the decimation of the Armenian patrimony, its ways of life, and its foundational contributions to Western culture.

Krekorian’s motion would also direct city officials to cancel their subscriptions to the Chicago Tribune and the San Jose Mercury News, which also printed ads from Fact Check Armenia.
