CLOUD COMPUTING Microsoft Launches New Cloud Services for Azure Platform

Today is also the day when Microsoft‘s Azure platform goes live in India. The company says Azure service are available now, with Office 365 coming in October and Dynamics CRM launching in the region in the first half of 2016.

Microsoft did something similar recently with the Cortana Analytics Suite. The new Azure Container Service will combine Apache Mesos, Docker and Mesosphere’s Data Center Operating System. Docker uses containers, in lieu of virtual machines, to enable multiple applications to be run at once on the same server.

Microsoft customer ThyssenKrupp, the Germany-based maker of elevators, escalators and other people-moving equipment, uses the Azure IoT Suite to make use of data it collects from Internet-connected sensors all over the world, said Schutz. To underscore its commitment to maintaining that leadership position, Microsoft said it will be adding India to its list of regions. In August, Mesosphere and Microsoft announced a deal to bring Mesos and DCOS to Windows Server.

The offer builds on BT’s vision of the Cloud of Clouds by enabling its corporate customers to establish a privacy-enhanced, managed connection to consume Microsoft’s cloud-based Office 365 capabilities with the highly predictable performance and the reliability that comes with dedicated connectivity.

Now, Microsoft is also throwing its hat in the ring with the announcement of its N-series virtual machines.

Zander said Microsoft would be previewing N-series virtual machines “within the next few months” running the Nvidia Tesla computing platform along with Nvidia’s Grid 2.0 technology. Under the plan, users who pre-purchase Azure Compute for one year can save up to 63 percent, according to Microsoft officials.

Since June 2014, Microsoft has made it possible for users to run Docker apps on Linux on Azure. As one of the first semiconductor vendors with certified wireless microcontroller- (MCU) and processor-based evaluation kits ready to work with the Microsoft Azure IoT Suite, TI is uniquely positioned to help developers begin IoT application development within minutes. Beaglebone, Freescale, Intel, Raspberry Pi, Resin.io, Seeed, and Texas Instruments are already signed up as partners for the new program, according to the blog post.

Microsoft announced several new products that cover containers, security and Internet of Things.

Offering integration with security services from companies like Barracuda, Checkpoint, Cisco, Imperva and Trend Micro, the new offering can analyze information gathered from customers’ deployments and compare it with global threat intelligence aggregated by Microsoft. Available in more than 170 markets around the globe, Private IP delivers scalability, varying classes of service, expansive reach and exceptional service including stringent service level agreements for latency and packet-loss. It also announced an expanded version of Azure Data Lake, which will now include a store and analytics service in addition to its existing managed Hadoop-as-a-service offering, Azure HDInsight.
