Cloud Gets First Big Snow This Winter
Then it became just a winter weather advisory.

The first big snow storm of the year dumped 5 inches of snow on St. Cloud. Temperatures will be close enough to freezing where sleet or even some rain may mix in at times, especially during the day.
Saturday’s snowfall of 11.2 inches recorded Friday and Saturday was beat only by a snowstorm ending on November 26 in 1895 that saw 12 inches of snow fall, the National Weather Service said.
A winter storm warning covers eastern South Dakota, southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa until 6 p.m. Tuesday. A spokesman for the South Dakota Highway Patrol says troopers have been busy with weather-related crashes in the Sioux Falls and Rapid City areas.
The snow will slowly start to taper off near sunset for much of KELOLAND, but we will continue with periods of snow through the overnight. While one area of low pressure over Colorado is fading, a new one is forming over southwest Missouri, and it will pull the last of the snow and flurries away from the eastern Rockies this afternoon. “This snow could lead to unsafe travel conditions in the region, particularly in locations where snowfall rates of an inch or more per hour occur”.
Western and south central Minnesota, along with nearby areas of South Dakota and North Dakota, could get more than 8 inches of snow, the weather service said, with some spots getting as much as 10 inches. A storm dropping freezing rain and light snow has enveloped the intermountain West on Thanksgiving Day and forecasters predict the cold weather will linger into the weekend ahead.

Look for a bit of a break through much of the morning with heavier snow starting up this afternoon into the evening commute.
