Clowney should be ready for Texans’ season opener
Bill O’Brien said the outside linebacker was on track to appear in the regular season opener, and that the return from injury was positive. A lot of it has to do with how he’s feeling, how the knee’s feeling.

Clowney said to the Houston Chronicle that he has been “trusting his knee” for a while and that he is ready to “play football” after coming back from microfracture surgery. “I put in the work, so I knew it was going to pay off”. They’re not trying to rush me back.
“I’m hitting everybody, talking junk”, he said. “We’re just taking it one day at a time, working me in slow”.
Is Jadeveon Clowney on track to play in the season opener? “I’m loving it”.
The Texans signed Clowney to a four-year, $22.272 million guaranteed contract last year that includes a $14.518 million signing bonus after drafting him out of South Carolina. The next day he had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to fix a torn meniscus. Romeo Crennel has said that he thinks Clowney has the potential to be a star player and now he has to see if he can stay healthy into the season. Clowney admitted to trying to do too much last season in his limited time on the field and said a year of maturity has taught him how to avoid that trap. He then underwent microfracture surgery, missing the remainder of the year.

Clowney likely won’t play this weekend in the Texans’ dress rehearsal against the New Orleans Saints. “I’m here to play football”.
