Clowns trying to lure kids into the woods in SC

What’s even creepier is that the alleged clowns have apparently tried to take children in the area, by luring them into the woods with candy.

In order to take care of the residence’s safety, the apartment complex wrote a letter to their tenants.

“I thought my child was seeing things”, she said to CNN.

Police in Greenville, South Carolina have stepped up patrols after receiving more reports of people dressed in clown outfits trying to lure children into a wooded area. “We want to make sure everyone is safe, especially the kids”.

She said the man taking pictures of kids was riding on a blue bike, and the other man was wearing a black jacket and a clown mask. When her son led her to where he saw the creeping clowns, she saw “flashing green laser lights” before the clowns fled.

Some of the kids said the clowns showed them “large amounts of money”, according to the investigative report.

Another woman said she saw a clown standing under a streetlight with a blinking nose.

On behalf of Fleetwood Manor Apartments, in Greenville, a letter was recently posted on Facebook warning residents about several disturbing clown sightings.

At about 8:30 p.m. Monday, Greenville County Deputies made their way to the Emerald Commons Apartment Complex on White Horse Road after a child said he saw a man dressed in a clown costume about two hours prior. But when the deputy canvassed the abandoned house the kids said they’d been lured to, nothing suspicious was found.

Greenville County deputies say they’ve found no evidence of anyone behind the apartment complex where residents reported seeing clowns trying to attract children. A couple of years ago in Bakersfield, California, police got around 20 calls on clowns, including one about someone in a clown suit brandishing a weapon.

The Sheriff’s Office also received a call Monday that a teenager saw someone taking photographs of children.

Four deputies were sent out to patrol the area.

Deputies responded to the area but were not able to substantiate the claims through evidence or video surveillance.

Greenville City Dispatch responded to another report of a clown sighting at Shemwood Crossing on Shemwood Lane Tuesday night. The clowns ran away.

Still, Greenville County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Bryan Flood worries that the media frenzy around the sightings could actually do more harm than good – and might even be inspiring troublemakers to start “dressing up as clowns to prank the police”. One clown was waiting in a vehicle and the other two clowns jumped in and they took off. Witnesses said the auto appeared to be a newer-model black Honda.

A clown was first reported August 21 by a woman who claimed that her son spotted clowns at the edge of the woods.

Witness Evan Adams said he was at home when a clown knocked on his door.
