Clowns trying to talk to kids reported in Georgia

Those afraid of clowns can sleep a little easier in North Carolina, where authorities say at least two reports of suspicious clown sightings in Winston-Salem were fabricated.

“Somebody was chasing them”.

Police in west Georgia say they’ve received several calls about clowns trying to talk to children and are investigating an online threat to abduct children from local schools.

Police in Winston-Salem, North Carolina say a man who reported a clown knocking on his window Friday made the story up, reports CBS affiliate WFMY.

Among those in Dublin who say they saw clowns are Michaela Brooks, who told WMAZ that she and her sister saw three clowns in a vehicle at around 11 p.m. on September 8, in the Middle Georgia State University parking lot. The children said they believed the clowns lived in “a house located near a pond at the end of a man-made trail in the woods”, according to the police report, but investigators say they have found the house to be abandoned.

The sightings come on the heels of a spate of similarly freaky reports involving clowns in North and SC.

“This behavior is not cute or amusing”, LPD state in their post. “And, if applicable, you may face criminal charges”. Children allegedly told police there were people dressed as clowns trying to lure them into the woods or cars with candy. They said clowns offered them money, and shined lasers.

A recent rash of creepy clown sightings has spread into Georgia.

A week later police in Greenville received a similar report.

Police in both SC and North Carolina have yet to find any evidence that the clown sightings were real and are trying to figure out if the clowns are just some weird prank or the result of mild hysteria.
