Clyne: Klopp is making me confident

“When Mauricio came in at Southampton he said ‘this is what I demand from every single player”.

“It is a great chance of a trophy”, said Milner of the League Cup. Win this and we will be in the semis. I understand that. I can’t continue not getting points. It’s highs and lows. They just shouldn’t get ahead of themselves and buy into the hype that they are Premier League title contenders this season.

“We know it is hard, really very hard, to reach the same level, because in one-and-a-half years we lost 10, 11 players, a whole team”.

Clyne has enjoyed an impressive start to his Anfield career. And now the appointment of Klopp, who replaced Brendan Rodgers at Anfield, has given Clyne a further boost. He credits Klopp with giving him more belief and is relishing the licence he’s been given to attack by the German coach.

However, we’ll have to wait and see whether Philippe Coutinho is able to make the trip to St Mary’s as Klopp also confirmed that he’ll make a late decision on the Brazilian playmaker.

“They’re certainties for the Champions League spot and I think they might win the league”. “You can definitely hear him on the sideline”, the defender says. There are so many mothers in the world that have brilliant sons, so you don’t always have to take the guys that everybody knows. “He’s extra confident in my ability to get forward and to develop as a player”.

“Maybe I should feel it but I don’t”.

Midweek football action takes places in England in the form of the Capital One Cup and the game that excites us is between Southampton and Liverpool. You just go out and do it again.

“Daniel did what we spoke about before, that he should be our target for winning balls, once we got the ball be an option, the first option”. He made 104 appearances for Saints during a three-year spell.

“The biggest fault you can make is thinking you’re already in the next round and it’s “only Southampton”.

“I’m pretty sure he will [succeed] – but only if the players buy into his philosophy”, he added.

Like all the very best managers, Klopp has a softer side. When we got to the Championship I was ready. “That’s what we will all learn and do, better and better and better”.

Watzke said that the club will not be opposed to hearing offers from Liverpool for the pair. “He’s changed me, not only as a footballer but as a human being”.

“Origi, who was anxious things won’t work out for him, what’s the hat-trick going to do for his confidence?”
