CM Punk and his UFC debut
Even despite suffering some injuries in his training to fight in the UFC, CM Punk showed up to his first bout ready to take Mickey on…it just didn’t go so hot.

“I didn’t get to the summit today, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to give up”.
In the fight, the 24-year old jiu jitsu practitioner, Mickey Gall, made quick work of Punk, by immediately taking him down, hit him with a few shots, then proceeded to submit him with his signature rear naked choke.
UFC President Dana White spoke with John Pollock of The Fight Network backstage at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio after UFC 203 this past weekend, and obviously the question regarding Punk’s UFC future came up during the interview. “But it’s not like I fought a good fight”, Punk said, as quoted by MMAJunkie. This was the most fun I’ve had in my life, second best night of my life after marrying my wife.
“I don’t know what happens from here on out, what if I get the cut?”
At this Saturday’s UFC 203, CM Punk will finally get a chance to step into the Octagon for the very first time. I like him. I have a lot of respect for him and he wanted to give it a shot. I’m not just going to shove it and leave it in the middle of the street.
The former wrestler had no answers and tapped out after being brutalized by his opponent for 2 minutes and 14 seconds. When the fight was over, he didn’t look like someone who had any idea what he was doing. I know this is a hard sport to master. Northcutt is widely regarded as one of the top prospects at 155-pounds, so it will be interesting to see if the UFC matches the pair of up-and-comers against each other.
The former WWE star has found at least one supporter, however, and it happens to be the biggest star in the sport. “I think he’s earned that privilege by being a talented guy somewhere else”.

No one should be surprised that Punk was paid nearly as much as the main event fighters.
