Nearly immediately after the bell rang, Gall scored a takedown and began to rain punches down on the former WWE champion before taking his back and looking for a rear naked choke.

Gall (3-0), who made his second UFC appearance, received a disclosed purse of $30,000 – a $15,000 show and $15,000 win.

Compared to Punk, Gall had more experience in MMA which provided him the upper hand in their fight. He has been training in one of the best gyms in the country, Roufusport, but wasn’t able to close the gap between he and the more experienced Gall. Even if you don’t think you deserve to be on the main card, you’re on the main card just shut the (expletive) up and fake it till you make it. He had always wanted to try MMA, and when the UFC presented him with an opportunity, he couldn’t say no.

However, Punk has maintained that he wants to build a career in UFC and will keep on fighting if given the chance. Punk did note in his post-UFC 203 speech that he did not intend to quit MMA, despite the uncertainty surrounding his future in UFC.

UFC heavyweight champion and OH native Stipe Miocic (16-2) received a disclosed purse of $600,000 for his first-round knockout victory over Alistair Overeem. Overeem actually earned more even with the loss, ($800,000).

Jessica Andrade and Yancy Medeiros also earned fight bonuses. Now, news about the first-time fighter’s salary has been made public.

UFC 203 went down in Cleveland, Ohio.

The UFC, already home to Anderson Silva, Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor, is seen as the place where fighters face the ultimate test of their skills. I know there’s a lot of doubters, but listen, life’s about falling down and getting back up. They said I wasn’t gonna make it to the Octagon and they said I wasn’t gonna make it after the back surgery.
