“In interviews and stuff like that, he would say things speaking about himself like he didn’t belong in the UFC and he didn’t belong on the main card”, Punk revealed at the UFC 203 post fight press conference. ‘I wasn’t surprised he got through those early chokes because I was only half committing, nearly playing a game’.
Vince McMahon doesn’t seem like a spiteful man so it would astound us if he intentionally mocked CM Punk’s loss. He had always wanted to try MMA, and when the UFC presented him with an opportunity, he couldn’t say no.
It went as many expected, with Punk submitting in minutes.
In the wake of Punk’s first round submission defeat to Gall at UFC 203, McGregor was asked for his opinion on the match-up. Gall also enjoyed some time in the spotlight that he wouldn’t have had otherwise, and CM Punk fulfilled a longstanding dream of fighting for the biggest MMA organisation in the world.
“I don’t know. I think that’s a possibility. But it’s not like I fought a good fight, so…”
McGregor reiterated his pointed remarks concerning WWE stars, but he said Punk is not of the same ilk because he got inside the cage. “I want to punch the spikes out of his hair”, said Gall.
Within seconds of#CM Punk’s debut bout at #UFC 203 you were feeling this guy’s pain. Mickey’s a hell of a fighter. “This was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life, the second best night of my life besides marrying my wife, obviously”.
“I know there’s a lot of doubters, but listen, life is about falling down and getting up”.

The event took place in the early hours of the morning Irish time and if you waited up in expectation of Punk producing a stellar performance, you would have been left disappointed.
