CM Punk wants to continue fighting, but maybe not in the UFC
In the fight, the 24-year old jiu jitsu practitioner, Mickey Gall, made quick work of Punk, by immediately taking him down, hit him with a few shots, then proceeded to submit him with his signature rear naked choke.

In a ideal world, Punk would like to be back at his home gym in Milwaukee training next week, but he does plan on taking some time off after the loss.
The truth is, “CM Punk” might still have a future in fighting, it just isn’t in the UFC.
Punk almost got free, but Gall regained a dominant position and squeezed his opponents head like he wanted to snap it off. Some were blessings in disguise, while others were outright victories for “The Straight-Edge Superstar”. “But I know I’m better than that”, said Punk.
Although CM Punk tasted a harsh reception in his first mixed martial arts (MMA) bout, the former professional wrestler remains optimistic to continue his prizefighting career. “It was lopsided and it’s upsetting”. I may not have scaled this mountain tonight but it doesn’t mean I’m going to stop, it doesn’t mean I’m going to give up. “I think that’s a possibility”, he said during the post-fight interview. I know that sounds preachy and weird for a guy that just got beat up, but f*ck it – this was the time of my life!
Punk faced a litany of criticism before his debut thanks to signing his deal with the UFC while having no prior fight experience whatsoever. That’s just who I am. He threw harder than I thought, he kicked harder than I thought, and you know, that was my own fault, but I knew everything that was coming.
Dropped by an early punch, Miocic recovered and knocked out Alistair Overeem at 4:27 of the first round to conclude UFC 203 on Saturday night in front of more than 20,000 delirious fans. I knew what to expect.

“I love to jump back in there as quickly as I can to erase that”. Believe it or not, this is the most fun I’ve ever had in my life. There are several more fighting promotions Punk could become a marquee name in if White doesn’t feel like he’s living up to his potential within the company, but it might be a smarter move to start up amateur fighting for the time being.
