CNN anchor breaks down over distressing image of Syrian boy
Images and video, filmed by the Aleppo Media Center anti-government activist group, of ash-covered 5-year-old Omar Daqneesh pulled from the rubble in Qaterji have gained wide circulation on social media and news outlets.

The youngster was on the street when a Russian or Syrian forces bomb fell on Wednesday and despite being taken to hospital, he sadly never recovered from his injuries.
The little Omran was rescued with three siblings and his parents.
According to a nurse who treated the courageous boy, he did not shed a single drop of tear until he saw his parents.
The photograph of a bloodied and dazed five-year-old Omran Daqneesh was the latest haunting reminder this past week of the suffering caused by the five-year civil war in Syria.
Shocking pics have shown the destruction wreaked by the bombing of Omran’s neighbourhood, and highlighted how lucky they are to be alive.
Sarout said he was surprised that the video had gone viral as the killing of children had become a common feature of the war in Aleppo and the rest of Syria that those who document its brutality, day in, day out, were no longer surprised by what they see.
Omran’s image, sitting in an ambulance caked with dust and with blood on his face, encapsulated the horrors of war, and remains to be one of the most powerful images of our time. Images where Omran is sitting with Russian president Vladimir Putin and USA president Barack Obama are also doing the rounds.
Eight people died in the strike, including five children, according to a doctor who gave only his first name, Abo Mohammadian.
Since the image’s release, the photo has reverberated around the globe, much like that of three-year-old Aylan Kurdi, whose body washed ashore on a Turkish beach a year ago. None suffered serious injuries, but their apartment building collapsed shortly after they were rescued.
Russian Federation said it was ready to stop military operations in the city for a 48-hour period as early as next week. On Wednesday three more people added to the dead list and 12 others joined the wounded list as per their UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

‘We want to make our voices heard that these children have nothing to do with this war and it’s such a shame that these planes – what we believe to be Russian planes – these children are being involvedthey’ve got no reason to be involved in this war.
