CNN Poll of Polls: Clinton’s lead cut in half

Both models have Clinton running the table on the battleground states Obama won in 2012, plus winning in North Carolina, where Romney narrowly prevailed.

Results in the Pennsylvania poll are on par with those in national polls. Georgia, for example, is a statistical tie, but we think Trump will prevail. That being so, it’s curious that she hasn’t lost anything in her overall share of the vote.

Neither candidate leaves large numbers of voters with warm, fuzzy feelings. It’s likely there will be many polls released next week to mark that campaign kickoff, and since voters typically begin tuning in more closely to the campaign once the summer ends, those figures will be more meaningful for all candidates.

Clinton’s strongholds: The Northeast, Upper Midwest and the West Coast, with Colorado, New Mexico and Hawaii tossed in. Most importantly, we deserve to have a choice beyond what we are being told are our only choices.

The Commission on Presidential Debates on Friday also announced that CBS News correspondent Elaine Quijano will moderate the vice presidential debate between Republican Mike Pence and Democrat Tim Kaine. However, many states report the party affiliation of people who have cast ballots, offering solid clues. Clinton has a positive favorability rating at 68 percent.

Still, Democrats say there is no substitute for engaging many Hispanic voters in Spanish and in bilingual ads.
