“I sincerely apologize”, she wrote on Twitter.

After social media called out CNN global affairs correspondent Elise Labott for editorializing, she was suspended.
The Republican-controlled House voted 289-137 Thursday afternoon to pass a bill that would block refugees from Syria and Iraq from resettling in the United States without first passing a series of strict background checks.
CNN has suspended Elise Labott, a global affairs correspondent at the network, for two weeks following a passionate pro-refugee tweet, a CNN source confirmed to Business Insider. “Statue of Liberty bows head in anguish”.
Hours after publishing the tweet, Labott issued an apology. My tweet was inappropriate and disrespectful.
President Barack Obama had defended the program on Syrian refugees and accused Republicans of “hysteria”. As of Tuesday morning, that message has been retweeted nearly 3,000 times.
It’s kind of a bummer that Labott felt the need to issue a disclaimer a tweet expressing frustration at a policy that would make it more hard for refugees to flee the constant violence and danger that has made their former homes unlivable. In a second tweet, he added, “If you haven’t completely abandoned your humanity, good luck getting a job at CNN”.

Although none of the attackers have been identified as refugees, the topic of national security in relation to the acceptance of people feeling the Syrian conflict has been discussed by politicians across Europe and the U.S.
