The once convincing lead enjoyed by presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton over her nearest Democratic challenger has all but disappeared, according to a new poll published just weeks away from the first voting.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, Chelsea Clinton made her debut appearance in the race, making three stops in New Hampshire where she told personal anecdotes and discussed detailed policy points while campaigning for her mother.

Hillary Clinton’s paid speech circuit came to an end as her campaign revved up.

The problem for Clinton is that a loss in Iowa might well be followed by a second defeat in New Hampshire, where Sanders has long led.

“Today he clarified what he said and said he was talking about me when I was secretary of state”, Clinton said.

Earlier on Tuesday, a Quinnipiac poll showed Sanders leading Clinton for the first time in the Hawkeye state.

Clinton also pushed back on Vice President Joe Biden’s characterization of her as a newcomer to the fight over income inequality when compared to Sanders. Clinton said at the time.

Sanders’ campaign says that’s not true and going beyond it and David Axelrod weighed in and said it’s not an honest attack, not something they should have sent her out to do.

Sanders was supported by the national liberal group MoveOn.org after a national poll of its members. In New Hampshire, Sanders outpaced the former secretary of state by 14 points, securing 53 per cent of the party’s support, a Monmouth University survey said. One report stated his proposal could cost as much as $15 trillion, a figure experts said would nearly certainly require a middle class tax increase.
